Traps can be in two ways: refusal to enter or a refusal to go out. If I made a million dollars yearly, I would be satisfied. It later moved to thinking of making it in 6 months. How about in a quarter, monthly, bi-weekly, weekly, daily and it keeps going; how about in minutes?.
We are living in a world where someone calculates a good day in a nutshell as a day he made a lot of incoming profitable (financial) transactions. Everyone wakes up to upgrade his worth in terms of money. It has become a trap, many have grown greedy and replaced it with discipline.
What discipline is it here: amassing wealth you do not spend and not also share to others at a reasonable rate. Note, I also added a reasonable rate because some gifts can still translate as greed. Is it not scripturally documented; to whom much is given, even much also is expected.
This is something The Holy Spirit taught me recently, don't calculate your daily worth with the standards of this age. To many, a day they made no money is a lost day. But that is not the same with God. How did that entire day influence your neighborhood? Did you impact life or even impact yourself?
For an instance, you went for an evangelism today and you were able to touch one depressed soul that was planning of committing suicide in the next 12 hours. I know, you abandoned work time for that, which you have put lets say $10 dollars in your pocket. Looking at a bigger picture; letting go of $10 dollars once every week to serve souls or keeping this $10 dollars at the cost of people leaving wayward, which is more important?
But only few will see life from such lenses, we’ve grown very self-fish and self centered. Life has become a business of me, myself and I. In short, it is well encouraged: keep accumulating as much wealth as you can. We have to note that I am not saying that you should be ignorant of needed responsibilities but if all you call responsibility is a chase after money; you are under living.
There is always a need to set a time to separate yourself for God. Well, the discussion concerning God has been more like fables to many. Many hearts have been closed against it. But God cannot be mocked. We need God far more than He needs us: in short, God coming to you is but a privilege, He is all sufficient.
In conclusion, my message in this article is the need to rethink and reanalyze; is money all that it is to summarize a good day?. What else can you think of that can tick a day good and what move have you made. When was the last time you preached to someone? How about visiting the less privileged? People are in the hospitals, prisons, special care centers and orphanage homes. Why are we always too busy trying to satisfy ourselves?
