Tonight, I decided to go for a quick cycling trip around the Aljunied area. Instead of bringing my own bicycle, I rented one because I wasn’t really sure if I would still feel like cycling all the way back home after dinner LOL.

I do have my own bicycle, but I usually reserve it for longer rides or whenever I really want to push myself into a more intense cycling exercise. Cycling has become one of the easiest ways for me to burn some extra calories while still enjoying the city, so I try to do it whenever I have the time.

Anyway, tonight’s post isn’t really about cycling. The more interesting part of the evening was discovering a restaurant that I had never tried before.

Most of the time, I eat at hawker food centers because they are affordable, convenient, and there are always plenty of dishes to choose from. But tonight, I wanted something slightly different. Around Aljunied, there are also restaurants where the food feels like a small upgrade from the usual hawker meal. The prices are slightly higher, but they are still affordable compared to what you would normally pay at a proper restaurant.

That was how I ended up at Mufiz Restaurant.

What immediately caught my attention was how wide their menu was. They serve Indian Muslim food, Thai dishes, Western food, and even Naan and Tandoori dishes. It almost felt like several different food stalls combined into one restaurant LOL.

The Thai section was what intrigued me the most because I think this was my first time seeing an Indian Muslim restaurant offering Thai-style dishes. Naturally, I became curious about how their version would taste, so I decided to order the Nasi Goreng Seafood.

As soon as the plate arrived, I already had a good feeling about it.

The aroma of the fried rice was really appetizing, and the portion looked generous. There were prawns, squid, egg, vegetables, and bits of seasoning spread throughout the rice. The prawns looked plump and fresh, while the squid had a nice texture that worked really well with the rice.

What I liked most was that the fried rice had enough flavor on its own. Every spoonful was savory, fragrant, and satisfying without feeling too heavy. The seafood also made the dish feel more substantial, so this was definitely the kind of dinner that could easily fill me up after cycling.

Then I noticed the split red chili sitting right on top of the fried rice.

I’m not going to lie, I was slightly intimidated by it LOL. I can handle some spicy food, but this type of chili always makes me wonder whether I’m about to enjoy my meal or accidentally turn dinner into a personal challenge.

Thankfully, the overall heat was enjoyable and gave the dish a nice kick instead of overpowering everything.

There was also some sambal with cucumber on the side, which added another layer of flavor whenever I wanted something stronger with my rice.

Overall, this was a really satisfying discovery. I came to Aljunied expecting a quick cycling trip and somehow ended up finding another restaurant worth adding to my food list.

I’ll definitely come back to Mufiz Restaurant because there are still so many dishes on their menu that I want to try.

Bon appetit!
