Cheers to thirsty Thursday! It’s been a long week. Between work, quarantine and the potential a third-party contact with Covid I’ve been a little stressed. Fortunately I’m feeling fine and decided to take some time to enjoy a beer and try to relax some. Today’s beer is Amber Tease by Schmohz Brewing Company.
It pours slight hazy with a cloudy reddish to almost copper color. There’s a solid 1 finger of dense light khaki head. I was impressed that the head had such good retention, that reduces to a small cap. I noticed a fair a lit of soapy lacing that clings on to the glass as well.
The aromas are very traditional with loads caramel, burnt brown sugar, bread, yeast toasted biscuit, and welcomed light nut flavor. There’s also some more herbal earthiness notes that are pretty subtle.
The taste is caramel forward. I get that brown sugar, fresh backed bread, and lightly toasted biscuit towards the front. Then comes a bit if light herbal, floral, and grassy flavors. It finishes with a roasted bitterness. It’s a Nice complex and robust flavor profile
It has a medium level of carbonation and the bod is very smooth with moderately creamy texture. It does ha e a sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is may not be for everyone.
Overall, this is a nice amber ale. All around good complexity, robustness, and malt character. I’m a fan of the subtle earthy hop flavors that add a bit depth. It’s very smooth and easy to drink I’d definitely recommend it.
