In times like these, there's absolutely nothing wrong with taking a "you" day (or two, or three, or however many you need). Whether that means watching an entire season of your favorite show, eating enough ice cream to cause a local shortage, or simply staying in your bathrode all day, these things are natural responses to the stress we've all been put under. However, even though I'm all for doing what you need to feel grounded again, I saw an interesting quote today that I think directly applies to the times we're currently living in:
There will be no refunds given tomorrow for having missed today.
How I interpret this is that no matter how you spend your day, you should look back at it happy with your choices, actions, and words. If you took little action and made few choices, that's fine. As long as you were present in what you did and allowed yourself to feel whatever you're feeling, that's a day well-lived. But I think it's important to distinguish between taking a day for yourself and missing a day completely. If you go through your day on autopilot, and when trying to look back on it can't remember most of what you did, that could be your body's way of telling you to slow down a little bit if possible. We all live different lives, and have different things pulling at our attention, but we're also alike in the fact that our days are numbered.
Try and make it your goal to miss no days over the weekend. Be present, laugh, cry, eat, love, whatever makes you feel like you lived that day. Your future self will thank you.
"A Single Seed" is my attempt to get out one idea every day that I've learned or accumulated over the years, with the hope that it may stick in someone else's memory bank as well. The idea may be related to fitness, business, life, or philosophy, but I think you'll find that many can change domains if you wish them to. With each seed planted, a new life awaits.
