Who needs soap operas when you've got Republicans? Don't think C-SPAN has ever been this entertaining to watch.
The Republicans finally have an election they can do over and they still can't win... In rehab they liked to remind us that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results, starting to look like Kevin McCarthy could use an intervention...
They're supposed to have another try at it in a few minutes, who wants to make book on how many more votes it takes to get a functional House of Representatives? By functional I mean electing a speaker, not actually functional, there's no way that's happening with this crew.
While the politichickens politicians have been entertaining the world with a crisis of their own making I've been on a bit of a hiatus myself. Used the time to slip out of town and spend a couple nights at the Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill, Kentucky. It was a bit wild, we went from cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey to hoodie weather in the span of a week. We couldn't pass up the opportunity so we put the trip together on the fly and went shooting.
Came back with way more photos than I've been able to work through yet but wanted to throw a few up while I work my way through the rest. The last photo is where we got to stay, the Farm Deacon's Shop which was built in 1809. It's kind of fitting, the last time the House of Representatives was in this sort of shape the Shakers were still alive and using the building.
Now where's my popcorn, the shitshow is about to start back up again?
