When I look back, I see how fast time has passed and how much happened in that course, I am surprised how much I learned, but now I am aware that I have much more to learn, when you reach a certain age, I have seen that many expect the worst because by experience is what they have seen happen, I have also seen bad things happen, but I have preferred to stay with those little things that without having possibilities, turned out very well.
I have the memory as a child, of going through great needs with my brothers and sisters, some of them too young to remember, it was a lot for a child, but I remember clearly that neither my siblings nor I, ever expected anything bad, in the mind of an innocent child good things are always possible and yes, it happened. I remember being separated from one of my brothers with whom I was very close, the economy forced my widowed father to separate us and send me to an older sister and my brother to another close relative.
Time passed slowly, but being a little girl I remember having the certainty that soon I would see him again and we would play as we were used to do, on his part my brother had that same certainty, so much so that as he worked in a field, he kept a small milky (my favorite fruit at that time) for me every day and kept it with him, until it got dark, it was something he repeated for a long time, without getting tired and without ceasing to think that he would see me again.
Time passed and one fine day I was taken to see my brother and I remember as if it had happened yesterday, that he was waiting for me with a milky in his hands, after a happy reunion we both ate it, it was a beautiful moment that was not erased from my mind and that reminds me of the importance of keeping hope that things will get better. Both my brother and I were sad to be away, but I know that we did not focus on the sadness, but on that certainty that I would see him again soon.
Throughout my life, I learned the importance of continuing to have my mind set on the good things that will happen, just like that time, but now with more experience I try not to let myself get carried away by the bad things that happen to me, but think about how good I will feel when this is over or when things get better. I know that for now there are things that can't be fixed and that will affect me, but it's not something I think about a lot, on the contrary, I think over and over again about things that I am sure will get better.
My family and I have learned that keeping hope is the best way to live, because otherwise, we would be sad all the time, looking only at the bad things that happen. We are sure that things are going to change for the better either personally or as a family, but we keep working hard to make it happen, we keep busy doing our part, not standing idly by, it is difficult what we are going through but I know that soon, we will be able to enjoy a delicious "lechosa" together again.
