Hello there again my Steemians friends, this is the continuation of the story about "The Honest Woodcutter" that I posted a few days ago. Ok, let's continue about the story.
If you have read the original story about the woodcutter, you will know that he has received a golden and silver axe as a gift from the River Goddess.
Recap:
The river goddess was so impressed with the old man's honesty so she gave him back his old metal axe and the gold and silver axe as a present for his honesty.
The golden and silver axe as we know was sold so that the old man and his wife can have a decent living, they no longer has to toil and gather woods for money. They now have enough money for themselves to enjoy and live their lives happily. But actually, there is another twist to their story, where they will meet the River Goddess a second time.
The Honest Woodcutter, what had happened to the man and his wife?
The old man and his wife were in their comfy living room having tea and biscuits. The old man became a bit bored so he told his wife that he wanted to go out to fish at the nearby river. The wife was a little bit bored too, so she decided that she wanted to accompany him fishing too. It'll be a great way to kill time, and if they were able to catch a fish, she can cook it for dinner. So, there go the two old couples, hand in hand with a fishing rod in their hands, walking gently with smiles on their faces.They reach the river and looked for the best spot by the river bank where they can stand and fish. Unfortunately, the wife stepped on a loose soil and she fell into the river. The water was deep where she fell, and she can't swim. The old man jumped into the river to save her, but the water current is too strong for him to reach out to his wife. Suddenly the wife sank into the water and never came up, the old man cried and frantically called out her name, but there is no reply. The old man swam to the river bank, exhausted, he got up on to his feet with desperation on his face.
Then, the River Goddess rise up from the river and approached the sobbing old man. "Hello there again old man, why are you crying?" asked the goddess. "Thank God that you are here," said the old man, with glitters of hopes in his eyes. "My wife fell into the river and never came up, I'm worried that she has drowned", said the old man. "Don't worry, I'll get her back", said the goddess assuring him, then she dived back into the river. The old man was really happy, he knows that the River Goddess will help him just like the time when he lost his axe.
Five minutes later, the River Goddess came out from the water with a really sexy, pretty young girl that looks like Scarlett Johansson. Then the goddess asked him "Is this your wife?". It took a while before the old man nodded his head and said, "Yes, she is my wife". The River Goddess was very upset upon hearing what the old man said. "You ungrateful old man, I was just testing your honesty, and you lied to me! I should put a curse on you!", said the goddess, she was extremely angry.
"Please hear out my reason first", said the old man. "I am worried", said the old man, "if I said NO the first time, you will bring another girl that might look like Jennifer Lopez, if I said NO again the second time, then only you will bring my wife", said the old man, crying and sobbing. "So, what is the problem?", asked the goddess, puzzled. "I'm worried, that later you will give me back my wife and those two girls as a gift. I will then have to take care of three wives, I can't afford to have three wives with the money I have from selling the axes that you gave me", said the old man.
The River Goddess laughed, then dived into the river and came back with the old man's wife. The old man was very happy to be able to see and hold his wife again. "Here is a sack of gold as a gift for making me laugh", said the River Goddess before she dives back into the river. The old man then went back home with his wife, with a sack filled with gold coins.
