Money is something everyone wants because almost everything a person needs has to be purchased with money. Most things are naturally given to us by God, but we still need money to maintain them. The importance of money has made it a basic necessity for everyone.
Going to school, venturing into business, taking a white-collar job, taking a blue-collar job, and generally looking forward to success are all, in one way or another, linked to money. After all, what we use to provide our needs and wants is money. So, when a person who has consistently struggled to become rich finally makes some good money, will things change or remain the same? Ofcourse plenty of things will change.
Aside from pride or being boisterous, which some people naturally possess even while struggling financially, other changes occur naturally. Standards are raised. Their social class may change. The people they mingle with may change, and even the way they see certain things may change.
To me, this isn't necessarily a result of pride. Sometimes, it is simply a natural change that comes with growth.The changes are not always forced; they happen because life itself has changed.
Class attracts class.
A rich person may naturally begin to mingle with other wealthy people, not necessarily because they suddenly hate their old friends, but because they now find themselves in different environments. Sometimes, the wealthy don't even have to announce their presence at a gathering, their presence is announced by the people around them.
With wealth also comes more responsibility. Many people, especially family members and relatives, begins to look up to the wealthy person for help. But the wealthy person may also have personal problems, responsibilities, and goals of their own. There is also a saying that "man is insatiable." Even when people consider someone rich, that person may still have role models they look up to and goals they want to achieve. This is why, after becoming wealthy, a person may begin to associate with people who are more successful or influential not necessarily because they want to show off, but because they are looking for greater opportunities and more ways to grow. Old friends may still be retained, but strategies may change because the person's goals have changed.
Talking about character.
If a person is naturally good, becoming rich doesn't necessarily change that. They may no longer have as much time as they used to, but they will still find ways to do good. Except for a person, who was deceptively good. A person who is deceptively good may behave well for a period of time, just to gain something and after becoming wealthy, their true character will begin to show.
A genuinely good person is good whether rich or poor. Likewise, someone who is rude, proud and mean, the person doesn't suddenly become wicked because they acquired money but because the character has always been there.
Yes, I am not forgetting that power can blindfold people. Money and influence can sometimes make someone lose themselves. But even when money gets into a person's head, if their heart is genuinely good, something good will still eventually come out of them. There are also people who don't have much financially, but when you observe their behaviour, you can already see signs of greed, selfishness, or entitlement. If such a person eventually becomes wealthy, those traits simply become more visible because they now have the resources to act on them.
Does money change personality?
I don't think money completely changes who a person is. I believe it often enhances what is already there. Money can give someone more freedom, more influence, more opportunities and more power. And when someone has more of these things, their true character may become easier to see. A good person can be good while poor and remain good when rich. Likewise, a selfish person may remain selfish, only with more resources to express that selfishness.
