A warmer day coming up. Chance to go back to check on the pink sun orchid I checked on Wednesday. My friend agreed to meet me - we have shared a lot of orchid sightings but never met face to face. We met with a friend of hers
Was warm enough for a flower open in a patch I had not seen on Wednesday. Light was bright and my friend was chatting a lot. Result - photo out of focus.

When I walked back to the car bumped into another friend. Showed her the photos - oops - out of focus. Did walk back after the rest of our walk - this is what I got
The flower had closed. Lesson learned - check photos before moving on
Asked ChatGPT to fix the photos. The fully open shot is too precise - not sharing that. The partly open one has enough points that are not perfect - more precise than my phone will ever take

I walked down the track a bit to check on the flowers I saw on Wednesday - budding sun orchids. It will flower before I have a chance to go back
This one has opened out a bit. There has been a bug eating - it is a sun orchid says my friend's friend. She shared the photos with him

We walked Kalkari Track and a side track off that hoping to find flying duck orchids. A few bearded orchids opened up - first for the season for each. Calochilus campestris

My friend found this leek orchid earlier in the week. It has been knocked over and is withering away. Took the photo as the orange and black bug is the enemy of orchids - dendrobium beetle

Had heard the call of the black cockatoos on the way in. Found them in their normal nesting place. Some way off in the bush - there are two in shot
Did find the donkey orchids in a known spot. A few plants showing, a few budding and one open - photo highlights the spike and the single leaf

And tight there was a flowering calochilus paludosus - red bearded orchid with its tape. Makes the day a 6 new season opener day. And a break from the normal recluse life
