Birthday time, a party and a Jervis Bay NP orchid walk : June 27 2026
A different day lining up. Heading down to a beach near where my son lives for the 1st birthday for his youngest daughter, Violette. Weather was a bit iffy but they chose to stick with the beachside party - covered bbq area if it rains
Top end of the beach looking out over Jervis Bay
Lovely banksia on the coast path walk
Looking south toward Moona Moona Creek
Proud parents
A chance photo of Violette just walking, her sister back the photo and my daughter. Not seen her in a while. She lives in Melbourne
Did get in a walk on Pritchard Husky Link track on the way home - mimosa flower and raindrops
Back to the day before theme - mushroom and orchid leaf
Mushroom action - maybe a puffer- not sure
Walking this track a second time - a bit scarce on orchids on the left side - plenty of mushrooms this walk
A staircase of brown
Do hate shots when the bright grabs the light - reflection off the water
Snake orchid looking well. Seed capsules seen last time have popped
Also found in beige a few sizes bigger
A few banksia flowers still going
New season flowers - feels early - some form of hakea is my guess
Fab edged colouring in this mushroom framed with timber
Closer to the road found a cluster of greenhoods - rosette to start - long leaf stalks is a clue
Nodding greenhood - pterostylis nutans
One of a few
Stopped for the greenhoods. Found the pixie caps orchids right here
Another large greenhood colony on the way back to the road
Pterostylis nutans close up. Next time I walk this track I will be looking right side first. Last walk had more more orchids that side
Context photo.
Was a good day. Had ideas to go to bowling club to see if there was a chance in the birthday draw. But it chucked down rain when I needed to be walking over. Stay dry and spend an evening at home
