A bit of a three way day going. Got on the bike when my wife went off for morning tea with some of her knitting friends. Cycled to the midpoint of the south segment of Seven Mile Beach - ride to a point and walk into the track
Quite a few helmets flowering between the road and the track - two up to start showing stages of opening
Budding nodding greenhood in a known spot
Close up - not quite in focus
Greenhood rosette with spike forming
Fully open corybas fimbriatus
Did have better light for pixie caps orchid shots - a little better than the day before. Paying the price for "camera fits into the pocket and cycling rule"
Stages of opening of corybas fimbriatus
Quite different cross light and shadows
Front on pixie caps orchids
Side on with column showing
Found a few greenhood clusters - will be great in a week to 10 days - flowering time
The promise of a flower
Yep. A cluster - 5 or 6 coming along
Acianthus orchids on a mossy bank
Greenhood rosettes with no flower spikes. Close to a known nutans colony but the leaf shape is different
This is a budding nutans greenhood
Maybe more - maybe different- ruffled leaf edges and shorter pedicels support different
Corybas fimbriatus on the way back
Purple mushroom action
Overlap with the day before walk - pterostylis concinna
Native violet for my granddaughter Violette
Spike on a greehood rosette
Pterostylis concinna
Spike some more
Some way to go for a spike - different leaf shape
Ride done as my wife got back. Made lunch. She rested. I went to play pickleball - no photos.
My wife had organised dinner out in our local one star restaurant - two birthdays to celebrate. Dinner was great. Atmosphere was great. And a night off cooking is good too
