Slow to get moving after a busy weekend. Part of the day plan was to go see my son on the first day home from hospital. I thought I would give them a night at home before visiting. Went to fetch my bicycle after repair to broken shifter. Simply a case of a broken cable.
Went to walk Grosvenor Fire Trail to check if the leek orchids are flowering and to get more practice with the new phone for photos. Hard to get focus on these little pink flowers - smaller than a US penny.
Drumstick flower on last legs
Did find a budding bonnet orchid - leaf and flower are a few inches apart - bud photo did not come out right
Snake orchid high up a tree - lower plant shows seed pods from last year's flowering
A few flowering spikes on cymbidium suave. As I got close ups the other day, I do not need to climb to get photos.
Found one flying duck orchid still open. Took a while to get a photo as it was quite windy. Just got to sit and wait. Caleana major
Found the yellow leek orchid - only one plant. Last year there were 3 in this spot and a few more in the bush behind - only one this year
Prasophyllum flavum
A bit more side on
Washed the car when I got home - been a few weeks
Dinner action - chicken, ham and leek potato bake - pre cook potatoes and layer first level in greased oven proof dish. Brown the cubed chicken thighs
Sauce starts with a roux - add in sliced garlic and spring onion and leek and sliced ham. Add chicken stock to get a nice sauce. Add in browned chicken. Mix through
Add sauce to the sliced potatoes and layer the next layer of sliced potatoes. Top with breadcrumbs and shredded parmesan and a dash of paprika.
Bake for 30 minutes at 180C
