The lepidopteran in the photographs I captured is a moth of the family Erebidae, one of the most species-rich families, the moth is classified in the tribe Thermesiini, a tribe that predominates in South America, with only a few species found in or straying North America.
El lepidóptero en las fotografías que capturé es una polilla de la familia Erebidae, una de las familias más ricas en especies, la polilla se encuentra clasificada en la tribu Thermesiini, tribu que predomina en Sudamérica, con solo unas pocas especies que se encuentran en América del Norte o se adentran en ella.
The tribe Thermesiini includes some of the largest moths in South America, such as Thysania agrippina in the following image, which is credited with the largest wingspan of any moth, at up to 30 centimeters or more.

Many moths of the above tribe are known in some parts of their range as witches or witch moths. In the case of the white moth shown it would be a white witch, and in the case of the photographs I captured, the moth would be a black witch.

The moth I photographed is probably of the genus Feigeria, although there is synonymy with the genus Letis, and it is nocturnal.
