It's always impossible until it's done.
- Nelson Mandela

About a month ago, I started my journey on Steemit by sharing a vision that

  • Climate change is solvable in this lifetime.
  • Renewable energy will be our main source of electricity.
  • Carbon emissions will be reduced by 90%, bringing our global temperatures back to its right balance.

Not long after, I was challenged by karinzdailygrind@karinzdailygrind, littlenewthings@littlenewthings to put a time into my goals - and the first milestone shall be to describe how we can realize this future in a whitepaper by 30th May 2018.

20 days later

I find it hard to process that this was only 20 days ago as I feel like so much has happened since. For example:

  • I have found a team.
  • I have given 3 presentations in the last 3 weeks.
  • I have learned more about SolarCoin, wepower, powerledger and the Brooklyn Microgrid; all of which are promising examples happening in this space.
  • I have a clearer vision of how this new energy ecosystem can be:
-- easy for people to participate.
-- rewarding to both renewable energy producers and consumers.
-- scalable when it needs to be.
  • I have a deeper understanding of the Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus algorithm; thanks to
    -- Steemit
-- Chong Jin Yoong, who did a presentation at NuMoney
-- Fadzil Badaruddin, a masternode operator
  • I have attended a melting pot of crypto events where I got to meet new people who provided useful insights as well as alternative views:
-- Lathika Chandra Mouli of Energolabs
-- Roberto Capodieci of Blockchain Zoo
-- Affendi Ariffin of ACCESS Malaysia
    -- Risen Jayaseelan of CryptoNewsAsia
-- Various Industry & Taxation Experts
    -- Regulators

30 more days to go

There is still quite a lot to cover:

  • Token Economics - what would be the token design, total token supply and most importantly... the utility of the token.
  • Proof-of-Concept - an outline of objectives and method statements to demonstrate the blockchain in actual use.
  • Compliance - what is our strategy to rally industry participants and regulators to support our initiative.

There are also rebuffs and criticisms that need to be addressed. I listen to them intently, acknowledge them with humility and gratitude, and go look for the answers.

I get a lot of...

"It is impossible."
"It is a pipe dream."
"It will never happen."

But I remind myself...

It's always impossible until it's done.
- Nelson Mandela

This isn't about me.
This mission is larger than myself.
Let's just get it done.

I envision the day climate change will just be another problem in the past.

Until then, we fight.

Buzz

Hi, my name is Jason aka @buzz.lightyear. I envision a future where renewable energy is our main source of electricity in this lifetime; reducing the largest contributor of carbon emissions by 90% and bringing our global temperatures back to its natural balance.

I believe that this is no easy task but it is achievable with your support.

I am developing an open blockchain that incentivises both producers and consumers of renewable energy and am looking to collaborate with brilliant minds who share this vision so that we can create a future where it just makes sense to go 100% renewable, visit your local store, buy some latest tech and generate energy for your own use and for others.
