Hello Splinter nerds
The recent update came as a surprise to me because I was not expecting any changes in the leaderboard reward, players can no longer earn dec as a leaderboard reward from now on and the new reward token for the leaderboard is Glints.
The Glint is meant to be an untradable token in the Splinterlands ecosystem, but can be used to do a lot of buildings, you can use them to build your reward cards by buying the card chest in the shop, if you lack gladius cards, you can use the glint to buy merits and also title, so glints are never useless because all those cards are important to continue being competitive on Splinterlands.
I have been trying to max all my reward cards on Emp-warden and I am successful with the normal foil by having everything maxed except 4 out of the 12 legendaries. Still, for the gold foil reward cards, I have only been successful in getting the common golds maxed, the others are still a work in progress which would take a lot of time as glint is kinda becoming difficult to earn.
Some reward cards are overpowered; a good example is Commander Slade a rare monster. The combo of Slade and Rune Arcanist a promo card is a deadly one because it makes Commander Slade invincible, the opponent monsters without the true strike find it so difficult to hit it. The reason why rune Arcanist is important is because of her Phase ward ability, which gives the monster in front of her a phase ability, how does this ability work? any monster with phase will have a chance of evading attacks from magic monsters, Slade is already saved from melee and range because of its Speed and dodge ability so phase makes him invincible from all the modes of attacks.
The combo of these two monsters is common on Splinterlands and below is a battle where I also enjoy the benefit of their combo.
It was a 3 ruleset battle.
The first was Stampede, a ruleset that gives trample monsters the superpower to trample on many monsters as they can kill as long as they eliminate their target, the second was Lost Legendaries which is self-explanatory, no legendary monsters can be used, the third rule was Ferocity which causes fatal damage to monsters with the taunt ability.
The opponent came with the mighty Eternal Tofu summoner but he also made a big mistake by using a monster with Taunt which put one of his monsters at a big disadvantage of getting eliminated early in battle.
Right in the screenshot above, you can see my Commander Slade and Rune Arcanist at the war font being summoned by Cryptic summoner with the blind ability which further makes it harder to hit slade.
My other monsters consist of 2 healers. Merdaali Guardian is a nonattack monster with healing and armor repair abilities and Anasth Soothsayer is my favorite healer with the cleansing ability.
My last two monsters were Captain Fellbade and Chaos Agent, Captain is an epic water monster with 2 modes of attack [ melee and magic] which makes him one of my favorite sneaky monsters and it helped me to eliminate the opponent Mycelia Slipspawn with the taunt ability easily.
The opponent Acid shooter was becoming a threat but Captain also took care of it before it could cause more damage than my team could survive but I lost three monsters to it...
The rest of his monsters suffered a lot of misses and back fire from Commander Slade which made me victorious in the battle.
