Hi guys how are you all? I hope you all are doing great. So guys today I am back again with a new Splinterlands monster review. It has been really interesting to explore these monsters and today I have another Water monster to talk about. So without wasting any time let’s get started.

Today the monster I am going to talk about is Commander Slade. He is a Rare monster from the Rebellion Reward set and he is mainly used as a durable frontline tank. Commander Slade is one of those monsters that can become very annoying for the opponent when used in the right battle.

Commander Slade is a melee monster and his max level stats are quite impressive. He has 5 melee attack 7 armor and 10 health. He also has 6 speed which is a very good amount of speed for a frontline monster. These stats allow him to deal solid damage while also giving him enough defense to stay in the battle for a good amount of time.

This monster basically has five abilities and each of them gives him something useful. His first ability is Enfeeble

This is a very interesting ability because whenever Commander Slade makes a successful attack against an enemy that enemy loses 1 melee power.

This ability can become very valuable in longer battles. If the enemy has multiple strong melee attackers then Slade can gradually reduce their melee power. As the battle continues the enemy attackers can become weaker and weaker. This can make a big difference in a long fight because reducing the enemy's damage also helps your team survive for more rounds.

His second ability is Dodge

I would say this is one of his most important abilities. Dodge reduces the accuracy of incoming physical attacks by 25 percent. This gives Commander Slade a better chance of avoiding incoming melee and ranged attacks.

This ability makes him especially useful against teams that depend heavily on physical damage. If your opponent is using strong melee or ranged attackers then there is always a chance that some of their attacks will miss Commander Slade. When you combine his good speed with Dodge he can become quite difficult to hit.

His third ability is Deflect.

This ability gives Commander Slade protection from certain types of secondary damage. He takes zero damage from effects such as Thorns Magic Reflect Return Fire and similar reflected or secondary damage effects. This can be very useful against teams that depend on these abilities to deal extra damage.

For example if an enemy monster has Thorns and your melee attacker hits it normally your attacker could receive damage back. But Commander Slade's Deflect helps him avoid this kind of problem. Because of this he can attack without being heavily punished by these defensive abilities.

His fourth ability is another very interesting one called Backfire.

Backfire works really well together with Dodge. Whenever an enemy misses an attack against Commander Slade that enemy takes 2 physical damage.

This means that when the enemy tries to attack Slade and misses they can actually get punished for it. His Dodge gives him a chance to avoid the attack and Backfire can then deal damage back to the enemy. So these two abilities work together very nicely.

The combination of Dodge and Backfire is one of the main reasons why I find Commander Slade interesting. Instead of simply taking damage from the opponent he can sometimes completely avoid the attack and then punish the enemy for missing.

Usually Commander Slade makes the most sense in the first position. His melee attack allows him to deal damage from the front while his defensive abilities help him survive against physical attackers. With his armor health speed and abilities he can perform the role of a frontline tank quite well.

He becomes especially interesting in battles where Magic attacks are restricted or unavailable. In these situations his Dodge ability can become much more valuable because a large part of the opposing team's damage may come from melee and ranged attacks.

If you know that your opponent is likely to use a physical damage team then Commander Slade can be a very strong choice. He can avoid some attacks weaken enemy melee attackers and punish enemies when they miss.

However Commander Slade is not perfect for every battle. One of his biggest weaknesses is Magic damage because Dodge does not protect him from Magic attacks. So if the opponent has a strong Magic based lineup then Slade may not be the best tank for that particular battle.

This is why I think it is important to look at the ruleset before choosing him. You should not simply use Commander Slade in every Water battle. Instead you should choose him when his abilities match the situation.

Overall I think Commander Slade is a very interesting Water monster. He does not only offer good health and armor but also brings several useful abilities that can make him much more difficult to deal with.

His Dodge gives him a better chance of avoiding physical attacks. His Enfeeble can reduce the melee power of enemy attackers. His Deflect protects him from several types of reflected damage and his Backfire can punish enemies whenever they miss their attacks.

For me the combination of these abilities makes Commander Slade a strong and interesting frontline monster. He may not be the perfect choice for every battle but when the ruleset is right and the opponent depends on physical attacks he can perform extremely well.

So overall I would give Commander Slade 9 out of 10. I really like this monster because he is not just a simple tank. He can defend himself weaken the enemy and even punish them when their attacks miss.

That is all for today's review guys. I hope you enjoyed reading about Commander Slade and found this review useful. I will be back again with another Splinterlands monster review. Until then keep playing keep battling and keep enjoying Splinterlands.
