Schadenfreude is the experience of pleasure, joy, or self-satisfaction that comes from learning of or witnessing the troubles, failures, or humiliation of another.

Schadenfreude has been detected in children as young as 24 months and may be an important social emotion establishing "inequity aversion".

Schadenfreude is borrowed from German. It is a compound of Schaden, "damage, harm", and Freude, "joy". The German word was first mentioned in English texts in 1852 and 1867, and first used in English running text in 1895. In German, it was first attested in the 1740s.

Now you could feel Schadenfreude because this is my last days view. You can't even see the snow-rain. And that while you may experience nice weather and a stimulating surrounding where I experience this.

But usually we tend to feel it when somewhat of a misery happens to another. Mostly funny things like falling off a roof or something.

I personally think that the biggest trait that comes with Schadenfreude is being able to laugh about oneself. I can only feel this kind of joy when I'm able to laugh about myself in the same situation.

There are people that feel it in a very negative way and I distance myself from that. There is misery and misery and one we can laugh about and another we shouldn't.
