If it were possible to leave this earth to move to another planet that was habitable for humans, would I decide to go along with such a plan? Well, when I think about it, it doesn’t seem to be that big of a deal. Maybe the other planet has more opportunities to offer, maybe the water is cleaner there, and the diseases that keep plaguing Earth are nonexistent there.
Life may be simpler, and I daresay easier there. And then, seeing how you’d basically be starting over from scratch, there would be the opportunity to learn so many things. Of course, with fewer people on the new planet, I’d have to do many things myself, learning the ones I have to because no one will come to help me.
So, will I be willing to leave everything behind and travel to the next best planet? Nah… I don’t really think I’d be happy to do that. While I know it’ll have its perks, I also know that the beauty of it will only be fleeting. I know that I won’t be there alone for long, because pretty soon, more humans will come to join me. And eventually, the planet would just be another Earth. If not worse.
It’ll only be a matter of time before people start claiming territories, and that’s how wars begin. People start looking into the fields of others and decide that they want it for themselves. Greed will surely rear its ugly head, and capitalism will definitely show its face. And pretty soon, the life I’m avoiding here on earth will come and meet me right there on that planet. Because humans take that disease wherever they go.
So yeah, I’ll stay back. As a matter of fact, I’d hope for even more people to leave Earth, because then, that would decongest it. There are just so many people on it at this time. Once about half of them are moved to a different planet, there’ll be space for the rest of us to breathe a little better. Am I saying that there won’t be wars on Earth anymore? No. But when you think about it, the possibility of one happening would be slimmer because bigwigs who make lots of money from war are more interested in monetizing the new planet.
That’s how the world of today is; the main goal of everything now is just money! Even things that are being done seemingly for the good of the people translate to even more money! The trips to space that have been in the works, or the space hotel that they’re planning to build… all of it is just to make money. The breakthrough in medicine, the ease of doing things, it’s only gotten better because these things make money for those who bring them to life.
So, I won’t go through the stress of interplanetary relocation just to get right into another rat race that I’ll be running with everyone else on the planet. Although, this could also mean that most of the bigwigs won’t focus so much on Earth anymore because it’s old news and the new money is on the new planet. Maybe then, the regular individual might have a chance to shine.
