Good evening #HiveFood friends I hope you are well.

I fondly remember as a little girl having to walk a long way to the house of a lady who to my mind was the only one who had a Pumalaca plant, Pomarrosa or also known by the name of water apple. On the street where I lived I never knew of anyone who had one of these plants.

When I was on my way to high school we always stopped in front of this lady's house, of course when it was Pumalaca season, I remember that I shouted with my high-pitched and shrill voice "-Madam, madam, give me a Pumalaca"- and the lady of course came out with all the love in the world and prepared a big bag with Pumalaca for me and my classmates. It is one of the juiciest, tastiest and sweetest fruits I ate in my childhood and the memory of it lingers in my memory.

Once I moved to Anzoátegui state, specifically to the gas city of Anaco, my surprise was that next to the house we bought, right next door, the lady had a huge and lush Pumalaca bush, here it is very common to have Pumalaca in the yard, most of my coworkers have this plant planted in their house. Now that it is in season a co-worker asked her husband to bring down some Pumalaca fruits for me, this plant of my co-worker gives extremely sweet fruits, something that is not common with other Pumalacas that I have tasted that are simple.

So I decided to prepare a delicious juice to take advantage of these fruits. Out of 20 fruits that were given to me we ate 7 and only 13 were left for the juice. They were so sweet that I had to hide them so my husband and my kids wouldn't keep eating them, how mean I am (laughs).

Next, I show you the step by step of this preparation which is a Pumalaca juice or what we call the Venezuelan apple, which contains calcium, iron, vitamin B3 and a moderate amount of vitamin C and phosphorus.

INGREDIENTS

alt

13 chopped pumalacas ,one cup of sugar and powdered milk

alt

PREPARATION

The first thing we must do is to get the pumalacas, in my case my partner's husband climbed in the bush and lowered the fruits. As some were not so ripe I made the juice the next day giving a chance for all of them to ripen, as you can see in the pictures where you can appreciate the beautiful red of the fruits.

Then they are washed and cut into small pieces to then proceed to liquefy it and then strain it.

alt

alt

Then add sugar to taste to the preparation and then add half of this preparation in a pitcher to separate them, and to the half that is left in the blender add milk to taste and blend again.

alt

FINAL RESULT OF THE PREPARATION

alt

For the presentation to be with two shades, first pour into the glass the preparation that we made to which milk was added, then pour into the glass the preparation that has no milk and it is so nice in two shades our glass of juice. I hope you put it into practice because this juice is very delicious.
