I know, we just posted a video on how to make bread. But, after mentioning that we might make some cheese bread and creating a hankering for @gregory-f (and ourselves) we went ahead a did it!!!
And I know you're all wondering why I haven't responded to your comments? Well, I do like to reward those who reward me and I've had to let that voting power get back up there....so stand by, the votes are coming!
In the meantime enjoy the video.....
Step one is to make the dough. To 1 cup of milk, add 1/2 Tbsp or 1 packet of instant yeast and 1 Tbsp of Sugar. You will also need a total of 3 cups flour, 4 Tbsp melted butter and 1 tsp salt.
Add half of the flour, then add the butter, and salt. Add the remaining flour and knead with the dough hook of an electric mixer for 6 minutes. You can also knead by hand if you prefer.
Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover. Let rise until doubled...about 2 hours.
While the dough is rising, make the cheese filling. Grate 2 cups of sharp cheddar cheese and 1/2 cup onion. Mix it together in a bowl with 1 tsp dried dill, a pinch of black pepper and 1/2 tsp of salt. Or you can change up the ingredients and put in whatever you like. We may omit the dill and onion and add minced garlic next time.
To form the buns, roll the dough out into a 12 x 16 rectangle on a floured surface. Spread the filling over the dough leaving a 1/2 inch border at the short ends. Tightly roll the dough from one short end to the other making a 12 inch roll. Cut the dough into 12 - 1 inch rounds using a serrated knife.
Place the buns on parchment paper lined baking sheets. Brush with melted butter. Cover with plastic wrap and leave to rise for another 2 hours or until doubled again.
Preheat the oven to 350 and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
