Unlike today, on the 8th of July 2021, when the following photographs were taken, the weather was hot and partially cloudy.
Late in the afternoon, I visited the small town called Valtura, about 8 - 9 kilometers from my hometown, but first ...
... I drove just a couple of kilometers to some old, abandoned buildings not far from the village called Liznjan.
While aimlessly rambling around, I found some fairly interesting details on the surrounding vegetation. Here you can see the dry, dead foliage around the stem of the Echium italicum plant. The hairs of this plant are very irritating.
On the aromatic, edible leaf of Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) ...
... I found this small spider. Don't know the exact species, but the family is surely Araneidae.
On another leaf of the same plant, there were these interesting minuscule eggs at the ends of delicate threads attached to the fennel. These are the eggs of the Green lacewing (some species from the Chrysopidae family)
The eggs are empty. The larvae came out recently.
The Agrilus hyperici jewel beetle in this photograph was resting on the leaf of ta blackberry shrub. In the following photograph ...
... you can see the friend who was there with me, in front of the empty old farm surrounded by tall grass and thorny blackberry shrubs.
In the more humid green area, in the shade behind the building, I found this empty exoskeleton.
The small grasshopper nymph has left, but its old skin is still holding the blade of grass.
Soon I was driving towards the next small village - Shishan, about 5 - 6 kilometers from where I live.
These two shots were taken there, on the main square. Here you can see the church tower and the shadow of the house across the square.
After taking a couple of photographs in the next village, the one called Valtura, I drove directly home.
