I cannot remember the last time I saw the sun!!
That is to say, April has remained true to its adage. Are you familiar with it?: "April showers bring May flowers." Well, that was certainly true for last month, for a cannot remember the last time we went a day without rain and cloud! Now typically I am a big fan of such weather, but if it were up to me, I would prefer a thunderstorm every now and again! The comforting rumbling of thunder, the flash of lightning that takes you by surprise, the pouring rain... A truly beautiful orchestra to relax to.
Thankfully, my prayers were answered not but a few days ago--we finally received a storm for the first time in a long time! Of course I took advantage of the opportunity as well, to snap a few photos while I was able to. Unfortunately it did not last too long, and it occurred at night, which made for a little late notice in terms of where we could take photos. However, we live in an apartment building where the 23rd floor is the peak, and it just so happens that every now and again we are able to gain access to the roof. The night of the storm just so happened to be one of those nights!

If you have experience with trying to capture lightning, then you know that similar to the phenomena itself, it is a one in a million shot (or that's what it feels like, anyway!). My trick used to be timing--you know, when you count the seconds between the flash of lightning and when you hear the thunder afterwards? That way I would be able to have some idea of when to start taking some shots. I still have yet to get the shot of lightning that I want... However, this was the shot from this night's storm. It is obviously not my best, but I was happy to get one photo!
