I recently came across a quote that shook me to my core:
"Every year, without realizing it, you are passing by the date of your death... make life damn it!!"
At first glance, it sounds incredibly dark. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized it is actually one of the most liberating truths we can ever embrace. We live our lives as if we have an infinite supply of tomorrows. We postpone our dreams, we wait for the "perfect moment," and we let trivial everyday worries overshadow the sheer miracle of simply breathing.
We are all moving silently along a timeline, and none of us knows when our final page will turn. But here is the paradox: the awareness of our mortality is exactly what gives life its profound meaning. The fact that our time is limited is what makes a sunrise breathtaking, a laugh contagious, a piece of art unforgettable, and a hug from a loved one so deeply precious. If we had forever, nothing would matter.
We don't need to conquer the world to "make life" count. Sometimes, it means fully appreciating the warmth of your morning coffee, the sound of rain against the window, or the feeling of the sun on your skin. It means being fiercely present in the "now" instead of constantly waiting for a future that is never guaranteed.
Life is not a rehearsal, and there are no second takes. We are here, right now, and that is the greatest gift. So, let’s stop sleepwalking through our days. Let’s wake up, breathe deeply, and honor the fragile, beautiful miracle of being alive.
How do you remind yourself to appreciate the present moment?
I took these photos a few years ago when I was living in Isfahan, Iran, in the autumn season, and the location of these photos is Chaharbagh Abbasi and Hasht Behesht Palace.
