Hello everyone.

The main reason for the update - I just noticed that I passed 100 followers. Somehow :)

I joined steemit approximately a month and a half ago.

My reputation is above 46 now. Somehow :)

I've made almost 250 posts, including comments.

Here's my steemit board with more details:

While getting votes on my posts most of them make no difference anyway, just like my own votes that are not making even 1 cent difference. If I was here mainly to make money it would be a huge waste of time. Actually more than that. It would be a substantial loss if I put any value on my time. I think my time spent would be already valued somewhere in thousands of dollars.

Speaking of money. I think I'm getting close to making the first $10 here on steemit. That's right, it's not a typo. It's $10, not $1000. By Steemit standards it seems already a lot. LOL. I suspect most accounts don't make even that while a few of course make way more.

I intend to mine some data from the blockchain soon and report it to the community, exactly how many users are in each brackets in multiple categories. That will be my next little community project.

But we are having fun here, right?

What surprised me a lot is that people don't vote for witnesses. It's not even about voting for me! I just noticed a very solid trend.

From my own experience - I've been running a Witness server and a Seed node for a while. So I'm technically a Witness (just not enough votes to put my servers to a good use for the community). I've spent around $2k on servers and I pay for hosting almost $200/mo. But somehow not a single person voted for my Witness except a few with whom I had one-on-one chat and who got to know me. But unfortunately the voting power of those few amount to pretty much nothing, just like my own yet.

So I'm asking myself, how come so many people upvote a silly joke or add up their votes under my comments quite often, yet I don't see people ever bother to vote for a Witness. Even those who have not voted ever for any witness, ever. So they are sitting on their 30 votes which cost them nothing to cast. They vote for some silly content with a whole 1/100th of 1 (of One!) cent trying to make a difference and encourage my involvement with "all they can", which I appreciate by the way, every single one of them, even with no money value. But somehow they don't think of maybe voting for me as a Witness, or any other witness for that matter?

Same applies to a few members who have voted for maybe one or two or a few witnesses. It's puzzling why not cast their other votes?

It costs steemit members nothing and they could actually make a very big difference for someone. Much more than upvoting some content, making less than one cent difference for someone who tries their best to be witnesses and who carry very real financial expenses, way more than majority of steemit users will ever make on this site? More over, it's free for members and within their power to make that difference! Why not?

Is this some kind of psychological phenomenon on Steemit?
