Another rainy day! I accept it, because I can't influence on weather conditions. Walking by canal, I searched for subjects for photography, but as you already suppose it, there was nothing on my sight. In my mind I almost decided to quit from today photo hunt. If you were being next to me at that moment, certainly you would noticed disappointment on my face.
But then, I noticed something very familiar, Yellow and White water lilies, fully opened, blossomed. This two water flowers both belongs to same family (Lat. Nymphaeaceae). Yellow water lily (Lat. Nuphar) it's also known as "Brandy-bottle".
White water lily (Lat. Nymphaea alba), is also known by few other names: European white water lily, White water rose or White nenupha.
Both of this flowers are pretty common in area where I live, I know for them whole my life. They are very beautiful flowers who decorates canal from May to Sep.-Oct.
Water surfaces where grows those plants are certainly unpolluted. This plant possesses certain medical properties and is used in the production of medicines for the treatment of certain diseases, but it can also be very dangerous if consumed in an inappropriate manner.
One fun fact about Water lilies is that this plant is also know and used as aphrodisiac and anaphrodisiac (every coin has two side)! During of hundreds of years many monks and nuns used this plant as anaphrodisiac to reduce sexual desire (I'm not 100% sure whether they have succeeded in this intention)!
