Hello everyone from a new week. Today, I will try to analyze the novel 1984, written by George Orwell and translated by Ülker İnce, which I finished yesterday.

Bugün sizlere dün bitirdiğim, George Orwell’in kaleme aldığı, çevirisini Ülker İnce’nin yaptığı 1984 adlı romanın tahlilini yapmaya çalışacağım.
Before I start the evaluation, I would like to give some information about the life of the author in order to get to know him. Our writer Orwell was born in India and completed his education in a school where only the nobility was accepted. Later, he started to work in a school within the Empire, when he saw the injustices there, he left his job and returned to Europe. Our author has many works in the genre of essays and novels. He became famous with his first work called Animal Farm.
Değerlendirmeye başlamadan önce yazarı tanımak adına hayatı hakkında birkaç bilgi aktarmak istiyorum. Yazarımız Orwell Hindistan’da dünyaya gelmiş, sadece soyluların kabul edildiği okulda eğitimini tamamlamış. Daha sonra İmparatorluğun bünyesindeki bir okulda göreve başlamış buradaki haksızlıkları görünce görevinden ayrılıp Avrupa’ya dönmüş. Yazarımızın deneme, roman türünde birçok eseri bulunmaktadır. İlk yazdığı Hayvan Çiftliği adlı eseriyle ün salmıştır.
Winston Smith, the protagonist of the book, is known for his criticisms of the current order and system. The state to which it is affiliated is covered with advanced rigid thoughts, it is strictly forbidden to criticize the state. The society is almost wearing blinders. This situation makes Smith extremely uncomfortable. He is in the middle class in society. He constantly questions why he is doing his job and why he is in that position. While walking around one day, Smith takes a beautiful notebook from the antique store and writes down his negative thoughts about Big Brother in it. After she writes down her thoughts, she writes the note "Fucking Big Brother" at the bottom.

Bağlı olduğu devlet ileri seviyede katı düşüncelerle kaplı,devlet hakkında eleştiri yapmak kesinlikle yasaktır. Toplum adeta at gözlüğü takmış durumdadır. Bu durum Smith’i aşırı derecede rahatsız etmektedir. Kendisi toplumda orta sınıfta yer almaktadır. Yaptığı mesleği niçin yaptığını, neden o konumda olduğunu sürekli sorgulamaktadır. Smith bir gün dolaşırken antikacıdan güzel bir defter alır ve Büyük Birader hakkındaki olumsuz düşüncelerini bu deftere yazar. Düşüncelerini yazdıktan sonra alt kısma “Kahrolası Büyük Birader” notunu düşer.
Society in Oceania is divided into different classes. People have very little freedom. The state and movements of people are constantly monitored. Trying to resist all this, Smith and his girlfriend Julia are arrested by the government and all their views are tried to be changed.
Okyanusya’da toplum farklı sınıflara ayılmıştır. İnsanların özgürlüğü yok denecek kadar azdır. İnsanların hal ve hareketleri sürekli takip edilmektedir. Bütün bunlara karşı koymaya çalışan Smith ve Kız arkadaşı Julıa hükümet tarafından tutuklanır ve bütün görüşleri değiştirilmeye çalışılır.
When we consider all these, we cannot talk about the development of this mentioned society and its rise to the level of civilization. If there is a hierarchical structure in a society and only the highest class has a say in the society, this society is doomed to disappear. If a society wants to reach the level of civilization and welfare, the people in the society should freely express their ideas and thoughts. Your protagonist is also talking about them.
