During my recent walk, I decided to check on the progress of the local development projects. While there are noticeable structural improvements, the overall transformation has been quite controversial. The project originally drew heavy backlash from the community after more than 200 mature trees were cut down and displaced.
Once completed, this site will house a 14-storey building designed to centralize provincial government offices, alongside a new shopping mall and a hotel.
Walking through it now, the area is dominated by large, concrete spaces. I remember when this spot used to feature beautiful center islands with lush greenery; unfortunately, those have now been completely converted into paved parking lots.
