Today was not just another school event for me. It was a moment that reminded me that leadership is not simply about having a title or being called an officer. Today, I officially became one of the newly elected officers in our organization, serving as the Business Manager.
During the oath taking, I held a candle while making a promise to fulfill the responsibilities given to me. Looking at the flame, I realized that leadership can also be like a candle. It gives light, but it also needs to be protected and kept burning. In the same way, a leader needs commitment, patience, and consistency to continue serving others.
Being a Business Manager is not only about handling money or taking care of finances. It also means being responsible, organized, trustworthy, and willing to work with other people. I know that there will be times when things will not go as planned, and there may be challenges that will test my patience. But I want to take those challenges as opportunities to learn and improve.
I also realized that a good leader does not always have to be the loudest person in the room. Sometimes, leadership means listening, helping, understanding, and doing your part even when nobody is watching.
This new role is both an opportunity and a responsibility for me. I may not know everything yet, but I am willing to learn along the way. I want my actions to show that I deserve the trust that was given to me.
As I start this new journey, I hope I can be a leader who does not only carry a position, but also carries the responsibility that comes with it.
A title may introduce you as a leader, but your actions will show what kind of leader you are. 🕯️💙
