I'm sanding, but, in my mind, I'm on a beach in Mochima

Hello there, full-time weekenders!

Who hasn't been caught into a daydreaming spell?

This is something entwined with our self-consciousness. We dream about the endless possibilities of our lives. There are no bound in that real. And we wish we were able to do all great things and enjoy the thrilling experiences. Perhaps we could rest assure that some of our quantum selves is doing all that we dream of while thinking of having a relaxed existence just like our own.

I found myself dreaming a lot lately about going to places and trying new things. These feelings become especially insidious once I have to go around a big session of sanding something. If we add the fact that this thing I'm sanding smells pretty bad, you can see why my daydreaming is justified.

On late December, I got this job for doing a paint job on an Electric Baby Bass. It's been quite some work being on the duty of removing the old paint and getting the whole thing ready for new paint. The fact is that I needed to learn how to use automotive body filler to repair an instrument that is made of some kind of fiber. This hasn't been a problem. The stench of the body filler is. That thing reeks!

To think I'm still short of another sanding session for the neck, makes my nose beg for mercy.

It's a good thing I have a mask for these jobs. And well, part of the job is already paid. Even if I'm not in a hurry to finish the whole thing, I need to start making some progress to have everything ready.

However, I wouldn't be myself if I wasn't thinking about doing anything else but sanding this much. Not that I don't like it, but volumes of it are annoying. It's even worse when you know you're doing it by hand.

So in the times I rest, I take a big breath far away from the instrument and think about being on the beach waiting for lunch and drinking a cocktail. Maybe going in a hike to the wilderness or mountains to sit down and grasp the beauty of the view and write some haikus about the impermanent nature of things.

My thoughts wander to music and a new repertoire and the making of new moulds for different instruments. To recording gameplays of other games and editing those videos to make them ready for Hive. Doing some editing to other videos in my DIY series. Learning to play my Box Drum. Getting Bri out of her case and learning a new songs.

My mind wanders free
on unseen paths of weather-
leaves hanging on wind.

There are lots of things I could be doing. Thing I'd rather do instead of this job. But responsibility is a driven force of my life. And I need to deliver.

Once I get the job done and paid, I'll do something to cheer me up and forget the bad smell of that body filler. But that' a thing my future self will enjoy. For me, there's also the smelly thing to sand for the whole weekend.
