One thing I have been trying to work on lately is comparing myself with other people. Honestly it is not always easy especially when you are a student and you spend a lot of time on social media.
Sometimes you open your phone and see someone you know buying a new phone, travelling, starting a business, getting a new job or just enjoying life. You will be happy for the person but somewhere in your mind, you might start asking yourself, "When will my own time come?"
I have had moments like that too and
There was a time when I would look at other people and feel like I was not doing enough with my own life and I would think about the things I wanted to achieve and then look at how far other people had already gone. Sometimes it would make me feel discouraged But I am slowly learning that everybody's journey is different.
Just because somebody is ahead of me in one area doesn't mean I have failed "No". Maybe that person started earlier or Maybe they had opportunities that I didn't have. Maybe they are also dealing with problems that I don't know about but
The truth is we usually see people's good moments especially on social media. We see the pictures, the new clothes, the trips and the achievements but we don't see all the struggles behind those things.
That is something I remind myself whenever I start comparing my life with somebody else's.
I also started paying more attention to my own progress, Maybe I haven't achieved everything I want yet but there are still things I have improved on. I am learning new things, going to school, meeting different people and becoming more of a responsible person. Those things may look small but they still count.
Sometimes we are so focused on where we want to be that we forget to appreciate how far we have already come.
I have also learned that progress doesn't always have to be money.
Sometimes progress is simply becoming more patient and Sometimes it is learning from a mistake, Sometimes it is being able to control your emotions better than you did before. There are even days when the biggest achievement is just getting through a difficult day and still waking up the next morning ready to try again, well
I'm still learning this every day
Of course, I still have dreams and I want to become successful, make money, build something for myself and make the people around me proud. I don't want to remain in the same place forever.
But I don't want to rush my life just because somebody else seems to be moving faster and I want to build my own path,
If somebody is doing well and I can celebrate them without using their success to insult myself. Their success can even motivate me to work harder instead of making me feel like I am not good enough.
I believe my own time will come too and
For now I just want to keep learning keep keep working on myself and take things one step at a time. I may not have everything figured out, and honestly, I don't think anybody really does.I'm still growing and still learning and still trying to become a better version of myself.
And maybe that is enough for now.
My journey may be different from yours, but that doesn't mean mine is not worth taking.
