Sometimes, I sit down and think about my life. I think about the things I planned to achieve by now, the dreams I had, the expectations I carried, and the person I thought I would have become at this stage of my life.

Honestly, some things haven't turned out the way I expected.

There are goals I am still pursuing, dreams I am still trying to bring to reality, and prayers I am still waiting to see answered. Sometimes, I look at how far I still have to go and wonder when everything will finally fall into place.

But recently, I realised something important: I have been so focused on what I haven't achieved that I sometimes forget to appreciate how far I have come.

There was a time when I knew very little about the things I understand today. There was a time when certain experiences I now handle with maturity would have broken me emotionally. There were lessons I could only learn through mistakes, disappointments, and situations I never wished to experience.

Yet, here I am, still learning, still growing, still hoping, and still trying.

Perhaps growth isn't always about having more money, getting a better job, becoming popular, or achieving every goal on your list. Sometimes, growth is the ability to remain hopeful when life doesn't go as planned. Sometimes, it is learning to walk away from what no longer serves you. And sometimes, it is simply finding the courage to try again after life has given you enough reasons to give up.

Reflection has taught me that life is not always about how quickly we arrive at our destination, but also about who we become along the way.

I am learning not to measure my progress solely by comparing my life with the lives of others. Everyone has a different story, a different starting point, and different challenges. What looks like success in another person's life may have come through struggles I know nothing about.

So, rather than allowing comparison to steal my peace, I want to learn to appreciate my own journey.

I also want to become more intentional about the way I spend my time, the people I surround myself with, the opportunities I pursue, and the things I give my attention to. Life is too precious to spend every day worrying about things I cannot control while neglecting the things I can change.

And above everything else, I want to keep trusting God, even when I don't understand the process. My faith reminds me that uncertainty is not the same as hopelessness, and that not having all the answers today doesn't mean I should stop moving forward.

As I reflect on my journey, I am grateful for the victories, but I am also learning to appreciate the lessons hidden in the difficult seasons.

I am grateful for the doors that opened, but I am also learning from the ones that remained closed.

I am grateful for the people who stayed, and I am learning to make peace with those who left.

Most importantly, I am learning to give myself permission to grow without expecting myself to have everything figured out.

I may not be where I want to be today. I may still have a long way to go. But I refuse to ignore the progress I have made simply because I haven't reached my destination.

I am a work in progress, and that is okay.

Perhaps that is what reflection should teach us: to look back without living in the past, to acknowledge our mistakes without allowing them to define us, and to look ahead without becoming so anxious about tomorrow that we forget to live today.

As we move forward, may we learn to celebrate the little victories, appreciate the present, learn from the past, and face the future with courage.

Because sometimes, the progress we are looking for is already happening within us, even when our circumstances haven't changed yet.
