Over the short time I've been on social media, I mean Hive because I don't use any other social media, I have spoken about my love of cats a few times and about how important to my life my cat is. She is a wonderful little thing, a constant presence, and such a very vital part of my life; I cannot think of being without her.

My cat is more than a warm little bundle of fur that curls up in my lap each evening, she's a companion, like a person might be, and we talk and listen to each other, understand each other's moods and feelings and offer support. It may sound odd to those who don't have or like the close bonds a cat can create, but those who have will know what I mean.

I've been very worried over the last few days as she's been a little sick. She's not eating like normal, is bringing what little she does eat back up and sometimes vomits a clear fluid which is tinged red; blood.

She seems a little off, I suppose like a human does when sick, and is sleeping a lot more than usual and I'm very worried. I have made a vet appointment which I hope will provide some answers but a part of me is so worried that I might lose my cat, something that would hurt me very deeply, and I'm fearful of what the vet may tell me.

My partner is also feeling the same and we're skirting around the topic a little, mostly due to it being very sad and hurtful to think and talk about, although we are hopeful that the answers will come and there's a viable way forward. My cat is thirteen human years old, very well cared for, has been fed the best food, been to the vet regularly and is mostly an indoor cat so isn't subjected to the rigors of life in the elements. She's been well-loved but we know she will not last forever and I'm so scared that this problem may be the beginning of a decline.

We try not to worry about things we cannot control but this is a little different and it's not easy to push aside the worry and concern. We're trying though, and will know more after the vet appointment which is soon. Until then I'm spending a lot of time with her, caring for her and making her comfortable and am keeping positive.
