SET OF KEYS

-The best place and the best time is here and now. Do you want to come?

That's what Adela told me the night we met in a bar in La Candelaria, showing me a set of keys and an enticing look, which together with a miniskirt and good legs... Who could say no? Someone sensible maybe...We'd had a couple of drinks at the bar and talked about how the bar was that day and things like that. Nothing personal.

As I walked into the bar I saw her sitting there, alone, something about her called to me, like those cats you meet on the street meowing and take home to give them food and shelter. Despite her seductive attitude there was something fragile about her that asked for protection. Carolina had left me for a younger guy and I had gone to that bar looking for companionship and found her. It was passion at first sight.

After that night of cats we kept meeting at the bar and we returned to their sheets without questions, without labeling what was obvious, enjoying our bodies, given over to desire. without promises or demands that end up damaging everything. We were free and happy every night, no matter what happened every morning when we said goodbye. I would go home to take a shower, change my clothes, have a coffee and then go to the advertising office where I worked, with my creativity running wild.

But that night the unthinkable happened, he sent me a message saying he didn't feel like going to the bar, to go straight to his house, that he would leave me a set of keys to get in under the matero next to the door. I found her in the room, on the bed, with her gaze lost in infinity, her clothes disarranged, there were signs of violence.

Then I heard a loud knock on the door, while a voice shouted: "Police, open the door. The set of keys, which I still had in my hands, fell to the floor, like a broken glass, my life broke in an instant.
