As a K-drama addict, I honestly didn’t expect Spooky in Love series to catch me this much.
To be honest, I started watching it because of the ghost story, but before I knew it, I was completely glued to my screen.
I mean, who doesn’t love a little romance mixed with ghosts, mystery and drama? 😂
Let me point us to some key characters
The first person is Cheon Yeo-ri, a hotel heiress who has a big secret, she sees and hear ghosts.
And honestly, imagine having that ability and trying to live a normal life, it almost impossible, she spends most of her time hiding it because she doesn’t want people discovering her secret.
The second one is Ma Gang-wook, that is the prosecutor. I admire him for he is smart and determined to solve crimes and cold cases, but there’s just one problem, he is scared of ghosts! 😂
So what happens when a prosecutor who hates ghosts meets a woman who sees them everywhere?
Things get even crazier when Gang-wook discovers that touching Yeo-ri allows him to see the ghosts too. Suddenly, these two have to work together to uncover clues and solve mysterious murder cases.
And yes, that was where I sided their team up😂 but would you blame me?
The interesting part is that Yeo-ri is constantly trying to protect her secret. At some point, people begin to suspect that she can actually see ghosts. Instead of telling the truth, she has to think quickly and play along with another explanation.
One scene that really stood out to me was the Si-o case. Si-o's ghost appears to Yeo-ri and leads her to an apartment where his body was buried. But Yeo-ri doesn't realise that Ha-ri is secretly following her.
Ha-ri is already becoming suspicious that Yeo-ri isn't normal and wants to record everything as proof that she can actually see ghosts.
Imagine the pressure 😭 Yeo-ri is trying to follow a ghost and uncover the truth while, at the same time, someone is secretly following her and trying to expose her biggest secret. All thanks to Mr. Ma who came to her aid to shield her
The third character is Kang Min-hwan, the CL Group CEO, everything about him was too suspicious like he had a lot to hide, more of jealousy as well especially when he knew that Mr. Ma is in love with Yeo-ri
And that certificate scene? That was when I knew this drama was not playing,😂 Why was Kang Min-hwan so interested in finding out who got Ji-hwan's heart? What exactly was he trying to uncover?
Then comes another shocking moment when Gang-wook's grandmother discovers that Yeo-ri was born in the Monkey Year, not a goat year.
I mean why does that matter so much? What does her birth year have to do with Gang-wook's fate?
Suddenly, something that sounded like simple superstition becomes a serious part of the story.
That’s why I recommend Spooky in Love cause it isn't just a romance. You get ghosts, crime, mystery, family secrets, jealousy, comedy and unexpected twists.
And honestly, just when you think you've figured everything out, the drama asks you another question, who is really hiding the biggest secret? 👀
