Power Trip Festival: What to Expect at Rock's Biggest Weekend
After months of anticipation, the Power Trip festival is finally here. Over three days, six of the biggest names in rock and heavy metal will converge upon the California desert. The lineup boasts a formidable roster, including Guns N' Roses, AC/DC, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Tool, each delivering full headlining-length sets of material.
Adding to the excitement, many of these bands have shared history and collaborations. Could we see Axl Rose joining AC/DC onstage, as he did memorably in 2016? Or perhaps a collaboration between Guns N' Roses and Metallica, who toured together back in 1992?
Power Trip is being held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, Calif., the same site as Coachella and the famous Desert Trip event in 2016. Here's a sneak peek of what to expect from each of these legendary bands in the Power Trip lineup:
Iron Maiden: Kicking things off on Friday night, Iron Maiden is making their first appearance on U.S. soil in 2023. Frontman Bruce Dickinson has teased that something new might be announced post-Power Trip.
Guns N' Roses: Returning to the desert for night one, the trio of Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan have been touring together since 2016, with new material like "Absurd" and "Hard Skool" in their setlists.
Judas Priest: This legendary band may have some fresh material up their sleeves as they hit the stage on Saturday, and they've expressed their excitement about the unique six-headliner setup.
AC/DC: Making their first performance since 2016, AC/DC's set will likely include tracks from their 2020 LP "Power Up" and promises to be a nostalgic journey.
Tool: The young guns on the bill, Tool is honored to share the stage with rock legends and is gearing up for a memorable performance.
Metallica: With the closing slot on Sunday, Metallica will offer a unique experience as they wrap up the three-night event. Lars Ulrich, a fan of hard rock, will be there the whole weekend, and Metallica will have the honor of closing the festival.
The Power Trip festival is set to be a historic weekend filled with legendary performances and rock 'n' roll nostalgia. Fans can expect a once-in-a-lifetime experience in the California desert.
