De vuelta por aqui con aventuras pendientes por contar, haré un resumen de las últimas andanzas en bicicleta siguiendo el hilo de los acontecimientos, llegó el momento de despedirme de la ciudad de Buenos aires, había cumplido el objetivo de la visita, pero quería aprovechar al máximo las carreras a velocidad descontrolada (así la bauticé) que hacen los miércoles por las calles de la ciudad (La jamaiquina).
Back here with adventures to tell, I will make a summary of the last bike rides following the thread of events, it was time to say goodbye to the city of Buenos Aires, I had fulfilled the purpose of the visit, but I wanted to make the most of the races at uncontrolled speed (so I baptized it) that they do on Wednesdays through the streets of the city (The Jamaican).
Ya conocía la dinámica de estas carreras nocturna, los otros días aprovechaba de hacer diligencias en bicicleta con mi hijo, tenía que apretar el pedal para ir a su ritmo, se me complicaba un poco cuando tenia que pasar entre los carros en los semáforos porque hay calles sin ciclovía, pero esto me dio condiciones para llevar el ritmo y la velocidad del grupo, tenía ventaja porque el recorrido es plano, por lo general y degustamos algunos platos exquisitos unas horas antes del "paseo".
I already knew the dynamics of these night races, the other days I took the opportunity to run errands by bike with my son, I had to push the pedal to go at his pace, it was a little complicated when I had to pass between cars at traffic lights because there are streets without bike lanes, but this gave me conditions to keep the pace and speed of the group, I had an advantage because the route is flat, usually and we tasted some delicious dishes a few hours before the "ride".
Esta fue la última salida en bicicleta de este viaje, había experimentado otra forma de rodar, todo el recorrido es plano, distancias promedio de 36 Km. totalmente diferente a lo que estaba acostumbrada en mi ciudad en Venezuela, la cual se encuentra rodeada de montañas y carreteras angostas, fue una experiencia que quedará en mis mejores recuerdos, compartiendo junto a mi hijo y compañeros la pasión por el ciclismo.
This was the last bike ride of this trip, I had experienced another way of riding, the entire route is flat, average distance of 36 km, totally different from what I was used to in my city in Venezuela, which is surrounded by mountains and narrow roads, it was an experience that will remain in my best memories, sharing with my son and companions the passion for cycling.
Desde Buenos Aires regresé a los EEUU, pasaron como 3 semanas antes de volver a casa en mi pais, tenia sentimientos encontrados, por un lado la incertidumbre de volver a estar con mis hijos y por el otro agradecida de haber compartido con ellos, por supuesto que pasaron por mi mente pensamientos de emigrar, pero los compromisos morales ganaron la batalla, además, continuar sumando aventuras en bicicleta las cuales representan la mejor opción de salud, compañerismo, bienestar y disfrute.
From Buenos Aires I returned to the USA, it was about 3 weeks before returning home to my country, I had mixed feelings, on the one hand, the uncertainty of being back with my children and on the other hand grateful to have shared with them, of course, thoughts of emigrating went through my mind, but moral commitments won the battle, in addition, continue adding adventures by bicycle which represent the best option for health, companionship, welfare, and enjoyment.
Fue una alegría volver con mis compañeros, cuando se enteraron que había regresado organizamos una salida por la ciudad, estas rutas por lo general tienen subidas moderadas, me di cuenta que mis condiciones físicas estaban mermadas al sentir el cansancio y la tensión en los músculos con calambres, me costo un poco llegar a la meta, de regreso, entramos a un negocio donde venden unas exquisitas ensaladas de frutas, esa fue mi bienvenida.
It was a joy to return with my companions, when they found out that I had returned we organized an outing through the city, these routes usually have moderate climbs, and I realized that my physical conditions were depleted to feel the fatigue and tension in the muscles with cramps, it cost me a little to reach the goal, on the way back, we entered a business where they sell delicious fruit salads, that was my welcome.
Se que necesito echarle mano a la paciencia y al entrenamiento para recobrar las condiciones físicas que tenía antes del viaje, la constancia es mi aliada y aspiro que pronto estaremos recorriendo nuevas rutas y desbloqueando niveles así como los compañeros que participaron en el reto del cerro Platillón, este carrera se celebro el 1 de mayo en el estado Guárico y se caracteriza por un recorrido de 21 Km aproximadamente de los cuales 16 Km son en carretera de asfalto y 5 km aprox. en carretera de tierra.
I know that I need to use patience and training to regain the physical conditions I had before the trip, perseverance is my ally and I hope that soon we will be traveling new routes and unlocking levels as well as colleagues who participated in the challenge of the Platillon Hill, this race was held on May 1 in the state of Guarico and is characterized by a journey of approximately 21 km of which 16 km are on asphalt road and 5 km approx. on the dirt road.
Este evento se celebra desde hace 16 años en San juan de los Morros para rendir homenaje a Efrén Díaz y Domingo Perdomo, ambos destacados deportistas de la región, en esta oportunidad hubo una participación importante de ciclistas en diferentes categorías (no tengo numero exacto) pero por la numeración pasaban los 500, verdaderamente fue un reto ya que es la montaña más alta que se encuentra al norte del estado Guárico, lo consideran una belleza natural de nuestro país Venezuela.
This event has been held for 16 years in San Juan de los Morros to pay tribute to Efren Diaz and Domingo Perdomo, both outstanding athletes of the region, this time there was significant participation of cyclists in different categories (I do not have the exact number) but by the numbering passed the 500, it was truly a challenge because it is the highest mountain that is located north of Guarico state, considered a natural beauty of our country Venezuela.
Desde que supe que los compañeros del team Mountbike y Lorenzo del team Biciaventuras participarían en el evento, quería acompañarles; iría como apoyo junto a Alicia, ese dia, amanecio bien temprano para los asistentes, nosotras a las 6 a.m estábamos listas, Claudia junto a Marcel nos buscaron para recorrer una hora de camino hasta llegar a la Villa Olímpica donde se dio el inicio a la carrera, los carros ameritaban una autorización y debían salir mas temprano para llegar a la cima antes que los ciclistas.
Since I knew that the Mountbike teammates and Lorenzo of the Biciaventuras team would participate in the event, I wanted to accompany them; I would go to support Alicia, that day, dawned very early for the attendees, we were ready at 6 a.m., Claudia and Marcel looked for us to travel an hour to reach the Olympic Village where the race began, the cars deserved an authorization and had to leave earlier to reach the top before the cyclists.
Ese dia amanecio lloviendo, me imagino que mas de uno se desanimo un poco ante la inclemencia del clima, pero no habia vuelta atras, Alicia y yo nos fuimos en la camioneta de Marcel, iba tranquila hasta que recibí la llamada de Claudia diciendome que nos regresaramos para buscar la camioneta de Jorge (otro compañero), nos devolvimos para buscarla, yo iba detrás de Alicia, no conocíamos la carretera ni la ruta, pero sabemos que: "preguntando se llega a Roma".
That day dawned raining, I imagine that more than one was a little discouraged by the inclement weather, but there was no turning back, Alicia and I left in Marcel's truck, I was going quietly until I received a call from Claudia telling me to go back to look for Jorge's truck (another companion), we went back to look for it, I was behind my Alicia, we did not know the road or the route, but we know that: "asking you get to Rome".
Íbamos avanzando tranquilamente por la carretera de asfalto, hasta que llegamos a la carretera de tierra, la lluvia hizo que esta carretera se pusiera un tanto difícil, la camioneta se deslizaba a los lados, es una carretera angosta con vegetación a ambos lados, con subidas y bajadas que le agregaban más tensión a la ruta, en un punto se formó tráfico de varios vehículos porque adelante algunos coches pequeños se encontraban atascados en el fango.
We were advancing quietly along the asphalt road until we reached the dirt road, the rain made this road a bit difficult, the van was sliding on the sides, it is a narrow road with vegetation on both sides, with ups and downs that added more tension to the route, at one point there was traffic of several vehicles because some small cars were stuck in the mud.
En este punto mi estrés había aumentado, un chico que iba pasando junto a nosotras nos recomendó poner la velocidad 4 x 4, no tenia idea como hacerlo, miraba para todos los lados buscando una palanca adicional, pero no sabia que, solo tenia que darle a un botón en el tablero, el joven me indico como hacerlo, inmediatamente hubo una mejoría considerable en cuanto a la tracción, avanzabamos por subidas y bajadas que ameritaban destreza para no quedarse atascado y era interminable llegar a la cima.
At this point my stress had increased, a guy who was passing by us recommended us to put the 4 x 4 speed, I had no idea how to do it, I looked everywhere looking for an additional lever, but I did not know what, I just had to press a button on the dashboard, the young man told me how to do it, immediately there was a considerable improvement in terms of traction, we went up and down hills that required skill to avoid getting stuck and it was endless to get to the top.
Después de sortear la carretera, llegamos al destino, ahora lo importante era conseguir un espacio para estacionar las camionetas, en esta parte el barro estaba más flojo y las zanjas se habían hecho por los vehículos que pasaron antes, logramos avanzar hasta conseguir los puestos para aparcar, los coches que venian detras de nosotras se atascaron y tuvieron que auxiliarlos, mientras todo esto sucedía, escuchabamos a lo lejos que habían llegado los primeros tres lugares de la competencia.
After negotiating the road, we arrived at the destination, now the important thing was to get a space to park the trucks, in this part the mud was looser and the ditches had been made by the vehicles that passed before, we managed to advance until we got the parking spaces, the cars that came behind us got stuck and had to help them, while all this was happening, we heard in the distance that the first three places of the competition had arrived.
Nos ubicamos de tal manera que pudiésemos tomar foto de la llegada de nuestros compañeros y amigos de biela, realmente la participación fue numerosa, verlos cruzar la línea, a pesar de lo complejo del camino era digno de admiracion, asi fue transcurriendo el tiempo cuando vimos a Marcel y Lorenzo llegar a la meta, más atrás venía el resto del grupo, uno a uno alcanzando el punto de llegada, algunos se bajaban de la bicicleta y les costaba caminar.
We positioned ourselves in such a way that we could take pictures of the arrival of our companions and friends of biela, really the participation was numerous, and to see them cross the line, despite the complexity of the road was worthy of admiration, so the time went by when we saw Marcel and Lorenzo reach the finish line, further back came to the rest of the group, one by one reaching the finish point, some were getting off the bike and it was hard for them to walk.
Fue un evento bien organizado, a los participantes les dieron frutas, hidratación y sancocho, no tuve la oportunidad de ver el tamaño de la o las ollas, pero debió ser unas cuantas por la cantidad de ciclistas que participaron, en sus caras se veía la alegría propia cuando se alcanza el objetivo, algunos llevaron toldos y carpas para preparar su comida y pasar un dia diferente.
I did not have the opportunity to see the size of the pot or pots, but there must have been a few because of the number of cyclists who participated, in their faces, you could see the joy when the goal is achieved, some brought tents and tents to prepare their food and spend a different day.
Después del descanso y del sancocho esperamos para la premiación, nuestros compañeros se inscribieron en la categoría recreativa, todos ganaron su merecida medalla, el ambiente era de fiesta y alegría, al rato salió el sol y mejoró la condición de la vía, decidimos regresar y preparar los perros calientes en un sector llamado "El castrero", un sitio muy bonito que se consigue en la vía principal, al lado pasa el rio, Angela junto a sus hijos aprovecharon de darse un chapuzón.
After the rest and the sancocho we waited for the awards ceremony, our companions were registered in the recreational category, everyone won their deserved medal, the atmosphere was festive and joyful, after a while the sun came out and the condition of the road improved, we decided to return and prepare the hot dogs in a sector called "El castrero", a very nice place that is achieved on the main road, next to the river, Angela and her children took the opportunity to take a dip.
Allí estuvimos un buen rato, cada uno contando su experiencia y deleitándonos con la comida e hidratación, aprovechamos de tomar algunas gráficas que quedarán para la posteridad, una vez más la aventura de arriesgarse llevó a nuestros compañeros a conocer sus fortalezas, que lo mejor de este tipo de eventos es que el compañerismo, la unión, la buena vibra, el esfuerzo y la diversión son parte de nuestra pasión.
We were there for a while, each one telling his experience and delighting ourselves with food and hydration, we took the opportunity to take some pictures that will remain for posterity, once again the adventure of taking risks led our colleagues to know their strengths, that the best thing about this type of event is that fellowship, unity, good vibes, effort and fun are part of our passion.
