Sipoholon Village Famous With Durian
A week ago, my husband and I went on vacation with our family to an area called Sipoholon. This area is known as the King of Durian in North Sumatra. Sipoholon is famous for its delicious durian, although not as sweet as the Musang King durian. But they can't be juxtaposed because they have their own fans.
We visited one of the farmers assisted by my father-in-law. If you go to Sipoholon, you can see the shop on the left side of the road from Medan. There is only one shop in the area. We came because we were told to stop by Mr. Simanjuntak (a durian farmer) and indeed did not refuse this invitation because as we know, durian is expensive and being given free is the key to letting go of the desire to enjoy Durian Sipiholon. If we buy in the city of Medan, for 1 durian it is priced at IDR 50,000.
We eagerly ate the durian with our extended family and another family group from the city of high cliffs. I think uncle, aunt and child are not fond of durian, apparently they really like durian to the point of wanting to add more but we were very reluctant because they were given it for free. Although Mr. Simanjuntak continuously offered to open his durian and take it home, his heart did not feel good and he only ate the fruit that was opened on the spot.
What broke my heart the most was when my husband stayed away from us because he didn't like durian. Even just smelling its scent made him want to throw up and made his head dizzy and sweaty. He said durian was one of those fruits he would probably never like in his life. Why do humans like to eat this very aromatic fruit? Though the smell alone can make me want to throw up and dizzy?
I always fight with him when discussing this fruit because as he knows, I really like this aromatic thorny fruit. The smell alone makes me want to eat it even more, even though I sometimes get dizzy when I eat more than one sack.
Don’t Judge A Book By The Cover
As you can see in the photo, the durians on display don't look good, they look like they're rotten and some even look unripe. At first I doubted, would this durian be delicious if eaten? But it turned out that my hunch was wrong, this durian is a very delicious durian, tastes sweet with a little bit of durian bitterness, the flesh is soft and melted, and the seeds are also not that big compared to the flesh.
As a local durian lover, this is one of the best durians I have ever eaten and is a durian that will never be replaced, I think I will come back again when this durian is harvested, if Mr. Simanjuntak said, come back again in January next year, there will be a harvest Raya, and I'll give you as much free as you want! Huaaaa thank you mister!! (I said).
