"I can't see a thing with this damn cap on and my head seems to be in a micro-wave man!" John complained.
"Well you just have to endure it through this date or you may spoil things." Conn replied lighting a cigarette.
"Come off it man! You can't smoke now, she may thing the air too stuffy you know. Just wait till we are done " John told him.
"What? Just a smoke?"
John eyed him and dressed his trousers.
John had met Annie a week ago and he had felt a deep connection welling up within him. It had been 2 years since his last relationship with Emily went south and he thought it was time to try again.
Although that resolve had not been so strong but seeing Annie at the records department of his workplace, the fire for a new relationship was kindled in him again.
He had talked about it to Conn, his right hand man and Conn had almost immediately advised him to go for her.
The next day at work, he approached her and after a few off the topic work he had ask her out for the evening. At first, she appeared uninterested but after a few push, she agreed to met him later that evening.
Smiling gleefully, he called Conn to tell him about the good news. Conn later dropped by to help him dress, accompany him to the cafe and take off once she comes into sight.
But being one for ocassional mischiefs, Conn had asked him to put on a baseball cap to hide his vulture scalp as he always refered to John's bald head.
"You don't want to show up at such a date looking like a the bird who eats dead remains, do you?" Conn had told him.
A few minutes before 6pm, Annie showed up looking elegant.
"Off you go, you wiry jackal!" John said pushing Conn away.
"This place is really nice". Annie said as she sat down.
" Yes, perfect place for a perfect lady", John added grinning.
"You don't wear a baseball over a dress as yours, take it off, Annie said.
John was reluctant considering what Conn had said about his baldness.
Annie smiled and reach for his hand.
" I know you are bald and I like you that way, okay? So now take it off please!" Annie said smiling.
John tore off the cap.
"Wow! She loves me bald", he thought smiling unconciously.
