Hello, happy morning to everyone. The electricity is just coming back on at this hour, and while the long hours passed in near darkness, I sat down to write today's post because, honestly, in the midst of the darkness, the heat, and the discomfort of not being able to get a good night's rest, I chose to write, and it relaxed me a little.
I prefer to talk about the productive and positive things of the day, or even better, of this week. I'll tell you, after much persistence and countless efforts over the years to adapt and find my rhythm, my brain finally processed my training... it has literally been a challenge of me against myself.
It was the only way for my body to adapt to failure, which is that moment of natural muscle soreness, but which held me back, keeping me in that vicious cycle of stopping and starting again. Thank God, even with those breaks, I was always making progress, but the breaks weren't advisable; it took a while to see concrete positive results... because the idea was to keep going even with the pain.
The functional training routine became a home workout to fill out the week, since on my days off I have to practice the routines I'm struggling with, the ones I find difficult, and the ones that don't yet allow me to complete the prescribed cycle. This is precisely how my body has adapted to this consistency, and I no longer go to class thinking that a particular routine is sure to be difficult or painful, which was one of the thoughts that filled my mind daily, and I would go in already predisposed to it.
To my great surprise and personal pride, I progressed to 15kg in some routines. There are other, more delicate ones where I still maintain a suitable weight, between 8 and 12kg, but progressing to 15kg in some exercises is wonderful; it's unlocking new levels, knowing that I am capable of doing it without damaging the muscle or overexerting myself.
I knew that day would come, I just didn't know when. I pray to God that my mind remains well-connected to my body for a long time so I can continue progressing, also considering that the Ángeles de Bárbara Foundation race/walk is in less than a month, and I always have to train beforehand to avoid collapsing during the process, especially regarding my endurance, breathing, and leg muscles.
I've managed the last few events without problems thanks to that prior training, but I haven't dared to run due to my lack of physical fitness. I haven't ruled it out; it's a mental challenge, and many of my friends my age have already done it and always encourage me to do it. Of course, the training is more consistent, but it's possible, absolutely possible.
Yesterday we wrapped up the week of training with a decidedly unhealthy breakfast. Today there's somatic dance therapy, but I'm not going. The strain from yesterday's power outages left me exhausted. I'll train at home later because that's what it's all about: building that discipline. This afternoon we have a trip to a cacao farm in the area and their chocolate factory. I'll tell you how it went later.
The day begins with a very traditional breakfast from this plains region: coffee and cachapas with cheese. Happy Friday to everyone... and thank you so much for visiting my blog.
