ENGLISH

Greetings to all coffee lovers... welcome to my blog.

Throughout the past week, coffee was a constant companion in most of my activities, meetings, and outings. But there is something I want to share with everyone: an electric coffee maker of a type I hadn't seen in years. It resembles the large machines found in coffee shops, only it is a smaller version.

In my home, we have only ever used three types of coffee makers: the greka—that classic Italian metal pot shaped like a small pitcher that comes apart into two sections; the standard electric coffee maker found in almost every household; and the cloth filter setup with its stand and pitcher—a traditional method in many Llanero homes, and the way we prepare the famous guayoyo.

But this is the model used to make espresso, cappuccino, and other types of coffee. I had never seen one before—let alone seen how it’s used—except in small coffee shops, and even then, only in a larger version.

I was visiting some friends, and not only did I see this vintage coffee maker in action, but I also tried some rather unusual blends—hahaha. Besides cinnamon, vanilla, and cocoa, they even add a splash of aged chuchuhuasa (or chuchuhuasi) rum.

It’s a medicinal plant; the bark is used to treat muscle pain. It’s usually prepared as a tea or macerated in rum, but I had never seen it mixed with coffee before. Coffee lovers really surprise me more every day with their combinations.

I hope you’re all having a wonderful week... thanks to everyone for visiting my blog.
