Fried food is always mouthwatering. But what about foods that are fried using the Air Fryer method without oil? Does it still feel the same taste?
First time frying calamari using the air fryer method.
The deep-frying method is quite popular and is used to create delicious fried foods, it has an unbeatable smokey sensation. Coupled with the crispy texture on the outside of the fried food.
But behind the enjoyment of fried foods, there are side effects for health. For myself, I really have stayed away from foods that are served with the deep frying method. Only occasionally just enjoy it.
The last few years have gone viral about the use of an air fryer for frying methods without oil. It's quite interesting to try. I was also curious about the results of the dishes served using the air fryer. Does it taste the same or not?
I've been dreaming about owning this air fryer for a long time. Then I was lucky enough, my two friends 
I'm quite excited to try out my new cooking utensils. Oh, thanks my best friends for this gift I need!
For an experiment using this air fryer, I will also cook crispy calamari. Stay tuned!
Fried Calamari Ingredients
- Calamari
- All-purpose flour
- Bread Crumbs
- Maizena dissolved in water as calamari adhesive against bread crumbs
- Seasoning such as salt, pepper, and more.
Cooking Instructions
STEP 1
Before cooking, soak calamari with salt and lime. Marinate for at least 20 minutes.
STEP 2
After marinating, cut the calamari into small pieces, which will look like rings.
STEP 3
Season all-purpose flour. Stir well.
STEP 4
Roll calamari in all-purpose flour. After that, it is rolled into a cornstarch solution, and finally into bread crumbs.
STEP 5
Adding and setting up calamari onto the tray in the air fryer. Drizzle with little oil.
STEP 6
Set the time on the air fryer to about 10 minutes, or according to the condition of the air fryer itself. Don't forget to preheat the air fryer before use.
THE RESULTS
I am quite amazed by the results of fried calamari using an air fryer. It looks quite crispy similar to using a lot of oil in the deep frying method.
As for the taste, it doesn't have the perfect smokey sensation like the deep frying method. But this is quite worth its to use because it saves cooking oil, and it is also healthier.
I will experiment with other food ingredients to cook using this air fryer. I am grateful to have one more piece of equipment that is quite useful for me. Once again, thanks to my friends for this wonderful gift. I love you guys!
