This poem serves as a reflective farewell to a summer that felt unsettlingly fervent, anticipating an autumn that arrives with a quiet plea for balance. It is born from the observation of increasingly extreme temperatures and the looming anxiety for what winter may bring, a poignant reminder of our collective impact on the natural world. The verses employ a measured, contemplative tone, characteristic of British literary tradition, using imagery of the changing seasons to underscore a deeper environmental concern. Metaphors of nature's cycles intertwine with the human-made alterations, aiming for a realistic yet subtly melancholic introspection.
Farewell, bright summer, with your lengthened days,
A sun that scorched beyond familiar ways.
This year, your warmth, a feverish, brazen plea,
More fierce, more draining than it used to be.
The lavender wilted, fields a dusty gold,
A story of a changing climate told.
We watched the mercury climb, with knowing dread,
For futures that our reckless hands have led.
Now, autumn whispers, through the cooling air,
A rustle in the leaves, a gentle prayer.
The crispness promises a soft release,
From summer's grip, to find a fleeting peace.
Conkers drop, and misty mornings rise,
A melancholy beauty in our skies.
But in this shift, a shiver remains,
A silent question through the coming rains.
For winter waits, beyond the shortening light,
Will blustery winds descend with fiercer might?
Or gentle snows refuse their annual call,
As seasons fragment, destined now to fall
From nature's rhythm, broken and undone,
Beneath the gaze of an unpitying sun,
And colder nights, for deeds we’ve sown and grown,
A testament to what we’ve overthrown.
Our mother Earth, she sighs with weary grace,
Reflecting the troubles of our race.

trayendo consigo otra dulce cadencia.
