Hello dear friends of holos.lotus@holos.lotus, greetings and blessings. On this occasion, I come to talk to you about a topic that for me is an essential pillar in daily life and that helps us immensely to live in serenity: gratitude.

Sometimes in the hustle and bustle of daily life, with our minds set on bills to pay, work, service outages, or goals we have not yet fully achieved, time slips away while running and we forget to look at all the good things we actually have around us. We live in a rush, always thinking about tomorrow, about what we need to buy, or about what did not go well last week. However, when we take a sincere break from routine and look around us carefully, we realize that life's greatest and most valuable blessings do not come wrapped in fancy packages nor do they cost huge sums of money; they are stored in the simplest and most everyday details of each day.

Being grateful for the simple fact of opening our eyes every morning, for feeling air in our lungs, for the smell of hot freshly brewed coffee when we get up, for the plate of warm food on the family table, and for seeing our loved ones in good health are things we often take for granted. We think they are life obligations or normal things that just have to happen, but the reality is that they are true gifts from God. There are thousands of people in the world today who would give what they do not have just to enjoy half of those small things we consider routine. When a person accustomed their mind to start the day recognizing and valuing all that simple well-being, something changes deeply inside: your attitude becomes softer, problems are seen from another perspective, and the heavy burdens of daily routine feel so much lighter on your shoulders.

Cultivating gratitude for small things teaches us to live present in the here and now. It removes that heavy anxiety of always wanting what we do not have and allows us to enjoy with real joy what is right in front of our eyes. It is not about resigning ourselves or stopping fighting to improve our financial or personal situation, but about understanding that true wealth is not measured by what we accumulate in our pockets, but by our heart's ability to enjoy and give thanks for every breath, every smile shared at the table, and every moment of peace life grants us.

It is extremely easy and pleasant to give thanks when things go smoothly, when there is enough money for everything, health is at one hundred percent, and projects at home or work turn out just as we planned in our notebook. Anyone smiles and feels blessed under those conditions. The true human challenge, the one that really tests the maturity of our spirit and the firmness of our character, lies in keeping that same grateful attitude when tough problems arise, when money is not enough to finish the month, when health falters, or when plans at home get twisted overnight due to an unexpected event.

In those hard moments of life, giving thanks does not mean at all that we rejoice in pain, that we are happy to be going through a bad time, or that we ignore the sadness of circumstances. Being grateful in the middle of a trial means having the wisdom to understand that every difficulty carries a hidden lesson that makes us grow as human beings. Dark and difficult days are the ones that teach us to be stronger, the ones that push us out of our comfort zone, and the ones that show us what we are made of. It is in times of trouble that we learn to value the helping hand of a good neighbor, the sincere solidarity of a relative, the ability to turn things around with creativity at home, and the inner strength we all carry inside to overcome adversity.

Even the most bitter experiences and hardest stumbles along the way serve us in the long run to value peaceful and quiet days with much greater strength and joy. When you learn to look at crises through eyes of learning instead of staying trapped in bitter complaining, your mind clears up much faster. Instead of complaining and asking ourselves constantly "Why is this happening to me?", we begin to ask "What is this experience serving me for and what should I learn from this situation?". That small shift in mindset takes away all the power from suffering and turns the problem into a life lesson that makes us wiser, more human, and more understanding of others.

When we get used to making gratitude a daily habit and not something we only remember once in a while, our entire life and our relationship with the people around us changes completely. A "thank you" said with a sincere smile and from the bottom of the heart to the person serving us patiently at the store, to our wife for the care put into preparing lunch, to our children for helping with household chores, or to a friend for simply sitting down to listen to us when we feel overwhelmed, holds immense transformative power. That small word opens doors that were closed, clears up misunderstandings, and creates an atmosphere of respect, harmony, and affection wherever we happen to be.

Constant gratitude has the wonderful virtue of curing us from that ugly habit of complaining about everything happening around us. Complaining is like a magnet for problems: it sours our mood, pushes people away from our side, fills the home with heavy energy, and clouds our vision to find simple solutions to daily inconveniences. On the other hand, when we decide to focus our attention on the positive, no matter how small, the mind fills with deep serenity. We begin to see solutions where before we only saw walls, and we become a pleasant presence for our family, coworkers, and the entire community.

At the end of life's journey, when it is time to look back, one does not take along the material things accumulated in the closet, nor the gadgets bought, nor the balance left in the bank account. The only thing we truly take with us and leave etched in the memory of others is the peace with which we knew how to live, the sincere affection we shared, and the ability we had to give thanks for every moment lived on this earth. May we never forget the importance of pausing along the walk, taking a deep breath, smiling, and giving thanks for each new day of life, for our health, and for every small joy God places in our path.
