There's No Project Without Hassles.

It's a beautiful Monday, a new mindset and a new page.

Have you almost finished a project only to find out that something wasn't right about it and then you have to start all over again?

We face challenges as needleworkers but it doesn't stop us from trying something challenging, does it?

Well, last week I made a dress for a client and I worked with the Mikado fabrics but in different colors.

The materials I used for this project are;

Mikado (Black & Gold)
Zipper (invisible)
Thread (matching colours)

The dress is very classy and stylish which requires a lot of patience and focus to get it right.

I had to zoom the original style countless times to be sure that I was on the right path.

The challenge I faced while making this fabric was having to change the thread in intervals just to give it a neat finish.

As you read further, you'll also find out other challenges I encountered.

Here are the fabrics.

I started with the simple part which was the lower bodice, I marked out the hip, waist and gown length and then I cut it out.

I moved to the sleeve part which was also very easy to cut, I marked out the sleeve length, and the armhole, and then I cut it out.

Now, the real journey began. The dress has drapes on the upper bodice and the lower bodice.

I started by marking out the upper bodice and looking for the perfect place to drape which I secured using a pin.

I draped the side as well after making a slit from the waistline down to the length as seen in the picture.

Here I have successfully cut out the neckline even though I don't know the name of this kind of neckline😏.

Here is what it looks like.

I started with the golden yellow thread as the upper part needs a matching thread and then I began to stitch gradually with my machine.

After turning the neckline, I joined the shoulder and started to face the invisible zipper.

The invisible zipper is such a beautiful zipper but it requires a lot of time and patience to get it right and it is so fragile.

The truth is, I fixed it perfectly here it is... But......

It got ruined when I was trying to zip it up once again after I had unzipped it.

I almost shed a tear😪, it was much of a big deal for me and then I had to look for another zipper to refix.

Here is the new zipper, another challenge is to loosen the old zipper and then refix a new one.

But fashion designing has taught me that a mistake is not the end of a project, you still have to give it another shot.

This lesson is really valuable today most of us encounter so many challenges in our needlework that make the whole project tiring but then we must finish what we started no matter how hard it may seem.

This too has taught me to face life, when I make mistakes, I do not want to dwell on that mistake, I must get up and look for a way out because mistakes are part of life.

So here I had to fix another zipper and it also came out very well.

After all the challenges I encountered on this project, the beautiful outcome was what made me smile I forgot all the stress I went through.

I made a very fancy brooch to enhance this dress, just a little gift to spice up the dress.
