Hello Hive.

I can't believe that I had put together this lovely dress from very many pieces of fabrics. When I mean many I hope that you understand that this dress came from the most tiniest pieces of fabrics you can think of. After using a fabric to make your desired outfits, there are severy pieces of scraps that often remains a lot of times.

Most fashion designers are forced to throw them away as any attemp at stacking them will make them fill the house and litter our working space. In order not to keep wasting fabric pieces, I found some very good use for them.

I just discovered the usefulness of dart manipulation in garment making.
It can assist you to manage fabrics and utilize even the most tiniest pieces to sew a complete wear, like I just did here.

Let me surprise you all with how I made this dress using that idea.

First I got a paper pattern and made a pencil skirt sketch for the lower portion of the dress. Then I created a dartline on it and through the dart like I cut the paper pattern into several tiny pieces.

The idea is that a fabric will fit into any pieces of the pattern. After aligning paper and fabric I had cut the pieces into shape.

Stitching this pieces will form the shape of the pencil skirt. Since I didn't want to have several seamlines in between the skirt due to the multiple pieces that will be sewn into a whole

I cut out long stripe of pattern fabric similar to the plain one and sew them in between every seamline. This made it a lovely piece, it came out like a design instead of a seamline.

For the upper part of the fabric I was able to cut an upper basic bodies.

And then I wanted a unique neckline different from what I was used to.

I wanted to learn how to achieve this stylish necklines, i am now desiring that every sewing project must teach me something new, hence I will be trying new things with every single outfit I made.

Having folded the fabric this way.
I kept working on the necklines using various measurements until I had it cut this way.

Having stitched it all together I was able to achieve my desired neckline you see below

Now putting the lower and upper bodice, this is what I have.

Lest I forget, fabric was exhausted by the time it got to the sleeves.
In order not to bother much I took a plain black fabric and cut out a sleeve here taping the edges with every tiny pieces of the fabric and tape the edges so that it can have a similar look to the main dress and not come out totally off.

Having added the last pieces as a godjet on the skirt for easy and comfort when working everything came out perfectly beautiful.

You will hardly noticed that these were very tiny pieces all put together as it all came out like a well thought and planned design.
