It was a weekend and Ugo had little cash on him take care of himself. He thought of what to do and an idea came to him...he still has a little cash in his bank account. Going to the bank which is about 3 kilometres is not the best option as he does not have money from transportation. He decided to visit the nearest automated teller machine to make the withdrawal.
He had to trek for about twenty minutes before he could find the nearest ATM. He summoned the courage and commenced trekking with the hope that ones he withdraws the money he will use part of it and buy things from the market and then transport himself back home.
In a space of twenty minutes, he found himself within touching distance of the ATM. He was full of expectations. On getting to the machine finally he met a crowd of about 30 persons queing behind the machine and waiting patiently for their turn. Ugo joined the queue.
After about 40 minutes of queing it became his own turn to make withdrawal. He slotted his card in the ATM and put his password and the amount to withdraw which incidentally was the only money in his account. He then pressed withdraw. The machine made some sound as if it was counting cash and Ugo was expectant of the cash to come out. The counting stopped midway and the machine failed to dispense any cash. Shortly after that Ugo received an SMS showing that he has been debited but the machine did not dispense any cash to him. His world crashed at that point.
Ugo was so sad because he does not know what else to. He complained to others who were also queing but was told that the machine will reverse the amount already debited. Ugo just sank at a corner and waited endlessly for the said reversal which never happened. He wondered how he will manage to get home, what to eat and how his life will be. His world just crumbled at that point. He was just standing between the devil and the deep blue sea.
