The girls, led by Susan decided to have a stroll in a nearby woods. The weather was fine with little warmth. They took their water cans and set out.
Midway into the woods, they appear to have lost their way. Susan who usually walk along that path, this time decided to take another route for a better sightseeing. Now, it turned out to have backfired.
There was a forest reserve within that area. It is rumoured that strange and dangerous animals usually stray and scale their fence to attack other animals and even humans. That fear struck Susan who tactfully refused to disclose this to her friends.
As she and others tried to navigate the woods, they saw something that looked like a wild boar. Fear gripped Susan and the other girls. They maintained their cool anyway. But one striking thing about the boar was that it appeared to have been transfixed.
Susan summoned the courage and threw some sticks at it. It did not move nor even roar. The girls looked at themselves. Anne picked up a stone and cast at it, yet there was no sound. It was then that the girls realised that it was incapable of doing anything.
It turned out that the boar was shot by a poacher but it ran away and died there while looking like it was transfixed.
The girls navigated their way out of the woods and went home recounting their ordeals on the woods.
