My Best Monsters Entered the Battle — But Still Lost (Fire and Regret rulset was a trouble)
In high mana battles selecting the monsters has another twist where you can calmly select the best monsters from your best deck and position them while also understanding the rulesets properly and adapting your strategy accordingly.
Todays battle was very interesting where we got to see a 6 VS 6 battle. Because the mana capacity was high I got the opportunity to select six monsters along with one Archon and the enemy team also selected six monsters along with an Archon. All the slots were filled and it turned out to be a very interesting battle.
It was a battle where along with strong attacks we also saw strong defensive monsters. Both sides continued to face heavy attacks and the involvement of the rulesets made the battle even more interesting.
So let’s see how this battle ended. First let’s understand the rulesets. There were three rulesets in which we had to deal with restrictions and advantages and how I planned my strategy and selected my monsters accordingly.
Ruleset One: Fate Certainty
This is a ruleset where monsters that have abilities like Affliction, Poison, Poison Burst and Stun have a 100% chance of triggering.
In simple words you should select monsters from your deck that have these types of abilities because they have a 100% chance of triggering.
According to this ruleset I selected my strongest monster cards with these abilities and positioned them in the best possible way so that I could get the maximum benefit from this ruleset.
Ruleset Two: Fire and Regret
Under this ruleset all units whether allied units or enemy units get the Return Fire ability.
What does this do? 50% of the ranged damage is returned to the attacker and it is rounded up.
For example if an enemy unit has a ranged attack and it attacks successfully 50% of the damage will be returned to that attacker rounded up. If it deals 5 damage it will receive 3 damage back.
According to this ruleset you need to adopt a strategy where you try not to prefer ranged attackers. Try not to select them because after a ranged attacker hits the enemy Return Fire will also cause damage back to you.
Ruleset Three: Up to Eleven
Under this ruleset all units whether allied or enemy units get the Amplify ability.
What does Amplify do? It increases the damage of Retaliate and increases all punishment abilities such as Corrosive Ward Magic Reflect Return Fire and others by one.
MY STRATEGY AND MONSTERS SELECTION
According to these rulesets what strategy did I adopt and which monsters did I prefer?
First I selected an Archon with the plus one Health ability. This means that at the beginning of the battle all allied units will receive plus one Health.
For the front position I selected a strong tank monster that also had good melee attack power.
For the second position I selected a monster with the Reach ability. This allows it to stay in the second position and still perform melee attacks.
In the third position I selected a monster with a healing ability which is also a good tank monster and can continue performing melee attacks.
I thought that if my first two monsters were eliminated I could get a lot of benefit from this monster and its healing ability would be very useful for me during the battle.
Similarly for the fourth and fifth positions I created a mix of ranged and magic attackers which could deliver heavy strikes to the enemy units.
Finally I selected another melee attacker that also had strong Armor and Health.
I selected this monster because it could be very useful for protecting against enemy units with Sneak and Opportunity abilities.
ON THE BATTLEFIELD
When I saw the enemy units on the battlefield there was a lot of confusion and it was difficult to understand which team was stronger.
The battle was very interesting and until the end it was difficult to know who was actually winning.
In Round 1 and Round 2 we saw some of the best attacks from both sides along with strong defense.
As soon as Round 3 started two of my monsters were eliminated while one enemy monster was eliminated.
In Round 4 another one of my monsters was eliminated and the battle became 4 versus 3.
At this point I no longer had my strong tank monster and my heavy striker had also been eliminated.
By this stage I started to understand that I might lose this battle because the enemy still had a strong striker remaining.
In Round 5 I saw a little comeback. The enemy’s strong attacker was eliminated and the battle became 3 versus 2.
Then in Round 8 my healer monster was also eliminated and the battle ended.
All of my monsters were eliminated while three strong enemy monsters were still alive.
So I lost the battle.
Even though I lost I still learned a lot from this battle and it was a very interesting experience.
In this type of ruleset and in a high mana battle like this what would your strategy be? Which monsters would you prefer? will be glad to see your answers in the comment section.
