In this post I write about some changes of my mind towards my life and work after I was interested in blockchain, crypto and Steemit.

Since I was a university student I was writing or translating technical stuffs. I used to write also programs but currently I focus on writing text, which I can do in a small chunk of time. It’s more convenient for my life with a baby. I want to try Solidity this year though.

Last autumn I came back to Steemit after a few months. Thanks to communities such as #japanese and #needleworkmonday, this time I could get to know more people and got more upvotes for my posts. I received SBD and with the crypto hype the amount became quite a lot. Then I started wondering whether I can make my living at least partially by writing topics I’m interested in on Steemit or start doing something nice as my lifework. It is a new possibility for my work and life. I become more confident about the idea especially after my pizza post was on @OCD international and received more than $20 for the first time. Thanks to djynn@djynn for curating the post.

Of course I should not over expect or too much rely on Steemit (distribution is important in many ways ;) ). I’m optimistic about blockchain and crypto future but I’m not sure it’s right. To write good posts constantly, I need talent and it will be a long way to go. And when my eyes are $$, I don’t think I can write good posts. I try to write about what I’m really interested in, get to know people with common interest and also continue writing in both Japanese and English as much as I can.

During the winter holidays I noticed that it was not right that I was satisfied with being busy with work and take work that is easy to explain to others. It is partially and probably because I am often asked a question “what are you doing as your work?” in detail as a freelancer and after taking effort to explain it, sometimes a conversation ends up just “oh interesting” or “hm”. I shouldn’t stress my family because of my work. I like to bake bread, I’m happy to plant tulip bulbs, I started getting to know each other with my baby and would like to take time to play blocks, go for walk … Sometimes she needs intensive help when she is sick. Also I want to take more time to read books and articles, I want to study German language more …

Then now I’m about to changing my mind drastically to take only works I really like in 2018.

It doesn’t mean I don’t receive orders from others. I try to say yes as much as I can according to my favorite essay "How to Get a Job Like Mine" by Aaron Schwarz, a programmer, write and hacktivist passed away in his twenties. I like some kind of works pop in my life. They show me new interesting fields or bring a result beyond my expectation. A work brought me to Germany. A work made me interested in blockchain and cryptos. Of course sometimes not all are like them but I’m happy to have chance to encounter an interesting work or project.

I wish I could find good work-life balance or my own work-life mix with the support of crypto and blockchain :)

How to get a job like mine"(邦訳は青木靖さん訳 "私のような仕事につく方法")にあるようにできるだけイエスといいたいです。
