Sadya is a variety of delicious dishes traditionally served on a banana leaf in Kerala, India.It is actually a vegetarian feast. It is prepared by both, men and women, especially when needed in large quantities, for weddings and other special events.
During the traditional Sadhya celebration people are normally seated cross-legged on mats. And Food is eaten with their right hand, without the spoon.
The main dish in sadhya is the plain boiled rice.The kootan is the collective name of the all dishes that included in the sadhya.The kootan include curries like parippu, sambar, rasam, pulisseri and others like kaalan, avial, thoran, olan, pachadi, kichadi, koottukari, erissery, mango pickle, pulinji, naranga achaar (lime pickle), as well as papadam, plantain chips, sharkara upperi, banana, plain curd and buttermilk. The different types of payasam ,the traditional dessert served at the end of the meal . Some of the varieties are Paal Ada, Ada Pradhaman, Pradhaman, palpayasam, etc.
